recently finished This Alien Shore by C.S. Friedman. Huge disappointment. It checked a lot of boxes off for me: AI, alien cultures, space-opera, cyberpunk, but just had bland characters with no one you felt compelled to root for or against. It tooke me 3 months to finally complete and threw me into a huge reading coma.

Started Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire to hopefully get me out of my reading coma and back in the swing of things

Also continuing my WoT read through with The Shadow Rising. I just really don't like this series, but my OCD wont let me not complete it.

Also about 73% through my year-long goal of reading War & Peace. love it but its just such a massive novel

  3. finished Dubliners yesterday and I've been thinking about "The Dead" all day

i know that pain. I havent totally gone that far with selling my books, but I did decide to sell all of my mass-market paperbacks since they don't look as nice on the bookshelf

where have you been selling them? I have a ton of books I wouldn't mind letting go and could use a little cash

  6. Love that book and especially that story. Now I wanna reread that one and try A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man again!

Can you all give me some recommendations based on the following genres? All fiction please.

    - Mystery ala The Last Equation of Isaac Severy, historical adventure/cult type stuff

    - Science fiction

    - Books on occult/cult stuff

As it’s my favorite book not by Tolkien, yeah. But chronologically it happens second. So those two can be read in whichever order. The Prisoner of Heaven ties them together.

It was 100+ here yesterday so I just stayed inside and finished Sharp Objects. Loved it. Now onto the new Paul Tremblay book today!

I’m on the third book right now, but highly recommend the Rememberance of Earth’s Past series. The first book was very good but only got better with the second.

Oh, and Yiddish Policemen’s Union for the mystery part
