He's doing A Children's Bible next. Might skip that to keep going with Lonesome Dove. EDIT: Lol I was not expecting Jeselnik to get choked up talking about the end of the novel. Caught me off guard, even though he dropped the old facade years ago.
Finished actually reading The Odyssey yesterday. It was worth it. I don’t think I can make it through The Iliad though.
idk which translation of The Odyssey you read but I thought that Emily Wilson's version of the Iliad was really readable! there's lots of great videos of her reading it too
I only ever knew him from his standup where he would really push the line of good taste / what you can say, and it was really cool to see him talking about books like this.
Peter Green. I bought the boxset after hearing an interview with him about it. His approach sounded compelling to me.
Enjoyed The Wager when I read it a few years ago. Will probably end up reading The Wreck of the Mentor too. The similarity between the covers made me laugh though. It’s basically the same thing.
I finished the Children of Men. It was okay but the movie is much better. It's interesting what they pulled out of the book to make the movie.
Finished The World Is Going To Love This: Up from the Basement with The Strokes by Gordon Raphael the other day. His writing was a little off-putting but I finished it cause I can't get enough of music related books. I would love if Will Yip, Matt Squire, Mark Trombino, or other prominent producers from the "scene" would write autobiographies. About 70 pages in on Seek the Traitor's Son. Went to a local bookstore a few weeks ago and a worker there was raving about it and basically shoved it into my hand lol. The worldbuilding is cool, and I'm enjoying it so far, but I didn't realize it was a "romantasy" book until last night. I generally stay away from romance books but going to keep an open mind.
You’re supposed to hate the main character, but it’s kinda wild to feel how much the author hates the main character.
I just started Harlem Shuffle. I have never read anything from Colson Whitehead before and that seems wrong. Loving it so far.
