It's so good! I felt like I knew the man after finishing the book. I also took little notes throughout the read (old history major habit) on my phone. Lots of stuff I didn't know!
My copy of The Land in Winter was delivered yesterday. Really want to start it but have 6 library books to get through so saving it for a snowy day to fit the vibe.
finished Weaveworld, really good but I think I prefer Barker in full horror mode (this will be a shock to anyone who knows me). looking forward to getting back into his gnarlier stuff
Can’t believe I let the hype fool me into trying another Joe Hill book. Someone throw this dude in horny jail and take away his writing apparatus, please. It’s engaging enough and I’m going to give it another 100 pages or so, but for example, I don’t need to hear this character’s relief that the high schooler he was checking out is at least old enough to drive.
Is this book good? It kinda feels like the author jerking herself off as she has the characters talk about Plato and shit
It's fine, Its salt burn the book but better written without the cum drinking and stupid plot twist ending
I’m just very picky and annoy easily. I find the book frustrating because there’s a lot about his writing that I really can’t stand but on the other hand it’s an easy and very engaging read so I can’t get myself to bail, haha.
just finished Great and Secret Show, it's wild how hard Barker pivoted to fantasy after starting his career writing some of the most iconic horror short stories ever. still love his style though really on the grind now trying to finish 100 books before the end of the year
Tartt is so divisive. I really hated The Goldfinch, but I love the premise of Secret History. My feelings on Goldfinch keep me from giving it a chance.
I only heard about it because she was a contemporary and classmate of BEE, but the prose here is way different. Not bad, but not what I was looking for
I think the first half of Secret History is perfect, then the second half goes in directions I didn’t really like. Found the Goldfinch tough while reading it but it stuck with me and I’d say I love it now. Started The Little Friend this morning.
I just finished Washington by Chernow. Masterpiece. The writing is engaging and straightforward. It’s so easy to follow and so full of information that is actually worth hearing about. I couldn’t put it down. There are so many lessons to be learned from Washington’s life. Brilliant.
I will start off by saying I absolutely don't expect my bf to know how I organize my books but he rearranged the living room (which looks so much better and I love it!) but moved my books around. I have started the process of moving them back but I had all the memoirs together and had things kinda sorted by genre and they're all jumbled now
Had been thinking about starting his Mark Twain this year and working through it intermittently given the size but may opt for this one.
