I don't subscribe but I've been listening to alot of Audiobooks that I get from my local library. Absolutely love listening to Audiobooks just can't afford the monthly subscription.
I'm not sure if it's still active, but if you use promo code NEWTRAVEL you can get three months of Audible for $1.95/mo to try it all out. I re-started my membership with that deal last month.
Currently listening to a novella by Kathy Reich's based in the Bones universe. Also picked up the Audiobook version of Skippy Dies at the library since people in here mentioned it, if never heard of it before that. Also currently reading Superman Rebirth Vol 1.
Skippy Dies is fantastic, heartbreaking and hysterical throughout. Also that Superman Volume is wonderful and really brought me in as a Supes fan. I'm reading my fifth Murakami book, What I Talk About When I Talk About Running. He outwardly states that he's not looking to make a runner or writer out of anyone who reads the book, but it certainly inspired me to run more and write better.
If you don't wanna pay for Audible check and see if your local library offers Overdrive and/or Hoopla. Thousands of ebooks and audiobooks for free as long as you have a library card. I use these apps daily and they're amazing.
If anyone is interested The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon is on sale for 1.99 on Amazon (Kindle version) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000OVLINI/?tag=absolutepunk-20
I've tried this before but it seems whenever I try to download the audio, I'm never able to listen to it. Does it specifically need to be in the Overdrive app?
2 months of audible for free for those interested: https://slickdeals.net/f/9691328-livingsocial-60-days-of-audible-free
Yep! Use them all the time! Hoopla is great for comics too if you're into that. I like Overdrive better because I DL the files and transfer them to my iPod in case I don't want to listen to them immediately. Yeah the overdrive app is required unfortunately.
That would definitely be what my problem was then haha. I don't think I had downloaded that and was just trying to do it from my laptop. I'll check it out for sure, though. Thanks!
There's a Desktop app that you can use too! I use it to transfer the files to iTunes and then to my iPod. But you should be able to stream them through your Internet browser as well
Currently reading Dune for the first time. Felt ashamed that I consider myself a fan of sci-fi but had never read it. Took a while to click for me but really enjoying it now.
This is still active. Also wanted to say, you can receive one free book from another member now and if any of you want any of mine, I'd happily send it to you to save a credit and whatnot. I'll post my list of Audible books if anyone shows interest.
Glad to hear! I just prefer the transfer method so I can listen later on my own and not be confined by return date.
I'm reading Dostoyevsky's Brothers K and it is absolutely amazing one of those rare instances when you are reading something (or experiencing art) that you KNOW it will change you as a person - where you can FEEL it changing you in real time hadn't happend to me since I read Infinite Jest
Hah yeah. I'll get around to that at some point probably. I just picked a book from my list so it wasn't anything super pressing.
