so...negative space fucking ruled. it was more challenging than expected and it took me a while to get through, but it's one of the more original works of fiction i've read in a very long time and i would kill for more horror in this vein. definitely not for everyone though, haha.
Finished The Sympathizer last night! Starting The Passenger today. Hoping to get it finished before the release of Stella Maris. Need to hit up the local HPB soon cause I know they had copies of The Committed last time I was there.
I highly recommend this audio book I just listened to called "Jews Don't Count" by David Baddiel. It was truly eye opening to see the kind of anti-Semitism that exists that I don't see or experience. It's wonderfully written and the audio book is narrated by David himself.
There's apparently a new special on British television with David Baddiel and Sarah Silverman and others based on Jews Don't Count. I need to check it out.
Might seem like a dumb idea, but I think I want to read a biography of every American president. Anyone have any good recs?
Sounds likely lol. I'll probably get like 5 books into it and quit thinking "wtf all these dudes suck"
Around 130 pages into McCarthy’s The Passenger right now and absolutely loving it. No clue where it’s going or if it’s going anywhere that will make sense but I’m just glued to it. Feels so good to be reading a brand new book from an all-time great author and have it live up to those standards.
I've been slowly doing this challenge and found the website below quite helpful from someone who has completed it and then some. ***The Best Presidential Biographies*** | My Journey Through the Best Presidential Biographies (bestpresidentialbios.com)
Rereading Ohio by Stephen Markley in anticipation of The Deluge coming out next month and it’s just as hard to put down the second time
Has anyone here read George Bataille’s Story of the Eye? I’ve never before read such absurd depravity in my life… it is completely bizarre and vile in the most hilarious way. Extremely well-written too. Honestly the closest thing it reminds me of is James Joyce’s dirty letters to his wife but that’s puny stuff compared to this.
I bought Paperbacks from Hell and I’m already so glad that I did. That said, only one chapter in and I sort of suspect that I probably wouldn’t like Hendrix’s fiction.
Been listening to I'm Glad My Mom Died on Audible. Celebrity memoirs aren't really something that usually speaks to me, but I love this. McCurdy's humour really is what makes it.
I finished I'm Glad My Mom Died and now im continuing my audiobooks of 2022 celebrity memoirs about grief kick and am starting A Heart That Works by Rob Delaney.
