Assuming you’ve seen Mando s1 and 2, absolutely. Only the last 30 seconds connect to the previous BOBF episodes.
I'm convinced now that Lucas had NOTHING to do with the first two films. I think he Mandela effect'd us into thinking he did.
I'm not the biggest star wars fan so take this comment with that grain of salt, but I am finding this a pretty lame series. The special effects have been pretty subpar, and there's not really an emotional core to the story yet and there are a lot of references like the whole chase scene was just to whiz by things that fans would recognize. So far it's not really given a reason for it's existence. EDIT: I did realize I'm at least 1 episode behind based on some of these comments so maybe I'll change my mind when I've caught up.
I mean... you're not wrong? A New Hope was drastically re-worked (and depending on who you ask, saved) during editing, and Lucas had nowhere near the level of control over Empire as he would over the prequels, or ROTJ if I'm remembering correctly.
I've only watched the first two and I'll just wait til the rest come out to watch it all. So the lack of excitement on this series for me definitely speaks volumes compared to mandalorian or bad batch.
The episode was fun, i love mando, but an overall extremely strange decision to devote an entire episode of a 7 episode show to something not remotely related to THIS story.
They probably filmed this for Mandalorian but saw people were getting bored with this show so just stuck it in as a solution lol
Those podracing vibes were awesome. Such a weird episode (for these series), but it had far more interesting story beats and overarching impact than the rest of the season episodes have had. So I’ll take it.
The Mando episode was better but still not great. So many weird story beats (commercial flying… who cares) and dialogue choices. Also that ship is dumb.
I also really can’t stand this insistence on giving back story to every little detail about the universe, including a piece of trash featured for two minutes in ANH.
I’m like half awake, all I’m gonna say for now is ep 6 was something else (in a good way) and I had multiple ‘holy shit they’re doing the thing! moments
I loved a lot of this episode, but there were definitely things that didn't quite hit like I wanted them to.
last ep is gonna basically be a short-ish movie I assume. Really think they're gonna wrap up the Tatooine shit next week and BOBF will be done for good. Everything left open will bleed into Mando S3. No one really cares about what happens with Boba at this point which is sad but like how can you with everything they've shown us in eps 5 and 6
