Expected dvsn BNM today but they BNTd another track (4/10) so it's like guaranteed for next week and I think it will be very high.

    Frankie Cosmos 8.5 BNM though

I don't know where else to post about this but I'm having trouble deciding if it's more embarrassing to be the guy behind Ripfork or the kind of annoying writer who worships it and tweets at him all the time.

Did you like Smith Westerns at all?

I saw them live and don't remember it and have yet to listen to their albums.

Fair enough. I was wondering if the new projects would get the guys out of SW's shadow. Whitney seems to be a critical darling so I think they'll be fine.

smith westerns are real generic and boring
pretty much why i've had no interest in listening to whitney, lol

as an aside, i do not care for their review of fifth harmony's album, not solely because i disagree with the score/general assessment, but because of the way it seems geared to criticize politics on the record that don't really seem present and shits on "work from home" solely because it came out a month after "work," and because they refined and improved "out of date" trends and aesthetics like mustardwave but thats a "problem" when it clearly is not. also the accusation they treat trophouse as an "umbrella ina drink" when they got kygo, who basically fucking invented the damn genre, to produce the songs. idk just kinda sucks to see it get shit on because the author projected intentions onto it unfairly.

I mean they are fairly generic throwback pop but they do a really really good job of it.

I don't think they usually do a best so far list, they've done the overlooked records for years though

    some good stuff

Huerco (really good if you're into ambient)
Deakin (much better than the AnCo album)
    Lil Uzi Vert (sick)
    Pinegrove (ok)
YG (good but I just can't get into it - you migh)
Modern Country (country + post-rock goodness, get to it)

the decision to review blink 182 and Magic! on the same day is a little weird, since maxwell and nite-funk (who both recently got BNTs) still don't have a review and theyve only ever covered those bands once when zedd remixed "rude." i guess the magic review functions as a defense of both of them, but it does seem like the kind of editorial decision driven more by conde nast mandated pageviews than anything else.
