For sure. I feel like that entire repress was in really high demand from the get go and was like 2-3 years ago….my copy of hats goes for like $100+ on discogs.
Damn I didn’t see that anywhere! I still need Peace at Last to complete my vinyl discography for them.
Discovered this earlier today and immediately fell in love. Blue Nile-esque from 1983. Lost until 2014. I missed the hype about it back then, I guess.
this recent Youth Lagoon single also gives me big Blue Nile vibes. Their most recent album isn't really like this (much more piano-centric), but I highly recommend it nonetheless
Kid and partner are asleep. I've got candles lit, a beer, a new book and Hats starting up in my headphones. Vibe is right.
Returning to this album for the first time in a bit and had the urge to rec it to all Blue Nile fans out there, but it seems I've already done that. Give it a listen if you have not already!
As usual, I am searching for any music that comes close to sounding like the first two albums. I found this band called It’s Immaterial, whose album Song has drawn comparisons. Not on Apple Music or Spotify, but on Soundcloud. Posting to remember to listen on Monday: edit: Youtube link
I’ll have to give it a listen. Virtually every time someone is like “X artist sounds like The Blue Nile” they’re always missing something
Blue Nile also just kind of sounds like proto-Arcade Fire to me (but better, and I would say that even if AF wasn't cancelled lol). It's the vocals more than anything.
Is there a specific album you’re thinking of? I’ve only heard Funeral and The Suburbs and I don’t hear that comparison whatsoever
