Really wish I hadn't skipped out on tonight's mystery movie bc apparently it was this.

 

Seeing this tonight. Always in for a Tom Hardy movie, especially one filmed in Cincinnati.

 

Can confirm this was Monday's mystery movie at my Regal. Thought it was great too, which was nice because none of the trailers really sold me but I love Jeff Nichols' work.

 

Ugh, this doesn't come out in Norway until July 5th

 

Had not seen a Jeff Nichols movie before this but I really enjoyed The Bikeriders. Some great performances but Jodie Comer really wowed me

 

This was fine. Kinda meanders and doesn’t really give the excellent cast much to work with. Comer’s accent is god awful but she’s still charming as hell.

 

I get that Hardy did his own thing with that accent but it still took me a bit to get used to it

watch Take Shelter if you get a chance. Fantastic movie.

 

It has been strongly recommended to me by a good friend over the years but I just haven’t done it for no good reason. Also Midnight Special to a much lesser degree

 

Thought this was pretty great, if a little long. The guy in front of me had a Harley Davidson jacket on and was having the time of his life, which is I think the best endorsement this movie can get.

I mistakingly thought this was a story "based on", not "inspired by". Immediately went to see what happened with that fucking kid only to discover this wasn't that kind of story lol

loved this. doesn’t really have much narrative momentum, more of a vibes movie but I was having a great time from start to finish.

Some flaws with how the third act goes down but I thought Hardy brought some real emotional weight to that character without much exposition. Butler’s just hilariously hot and cool but the movie is basically about people trying to deal with how hot and cool he is, so it worked.

 

I think I liked this. It is off-beat in a way that is very reminiscent of Shotgun Stories.

A lot of people were talking about Johnny's voice, but it seemed pretty clear that it was supposed to be the character trying to do Brando and being very spotty.

 

Did I miss something? Why did Dewey Crowe just disappear from the movie?

 

Really dug this movie. Lots of personality. Went in for Tom Hardy and his delightful little voice, and obviously was into him and Austin Butler, but Jodie Comer was the star. Kathy, you queen. Also, shout out to the dude who was just really into eating bugs (too bad he became a cop). And the shovel to the ankle... oof.

 

he crashed his bike into the back of a car and died on impact.

 

Riding a motorcycle seems so terrible. Getting rained on, bugs in your teeth, direct exposure to the Sun. I would rather be in a gang of people with reasonable sedans.
