Weird thing I just noticed: the release date for A Real Thing on Apple Music says July 1, 2022, which is obviously not right. I thought it was just a careless mistake until I realized July 1 is indeed a Friday. Any chance that is the release date for the new album and the band/label accidentally put it on the single or something?
@MexicanGuitars are you there? I’ll be there tonight. (Wish the show was earlier because I’m old and need my sleep)
Yeah I’ll be rolling in in a bit. I am also distraught at how late it is because I have Tigers Jaw into Greg Barnett on Friday lol
They are so damn good. Wish they played You Wouldn’t Like Me but glad I got to hear all the Jump Rope Gazers and new material. Lunar Vacation also was dope
Yeah they were really solid tonight. Crazy how they have blown up from playing small couple hundred capacity venues. I know the first time they played in Chicago it was a small house show which is even more insane.
Yeah, last time (only time) I saw them was Logan Square Arts Fest in 2019. They had a decently sizeable crowd for a free festival on a Sunday night, but originally they were supposed to play Cobra Lounge on the next tour before COVID. They could have filled Cobra Lounge like eight times over tonight lol. They only played A Real Thing and Silence is Golden tonight
I discovered them through hearing about the house show and checking out their music. I was unable to go to the show but they came back a couple months later and played Beat Kitchen (they didn’t even sell it out which is wild). I remember watching the openers standing next to Elizabeth at that show haha. Then a couple months later they came back and sold out Lincoln Hall which surprised me but that’s when I knew they were blowing up, and then they played that festival and now Metro. It’s pretty insane. I only got to go to the Lincoln Hall show because someone gave me a free ticket otherwise I wouldn’t have gone because like no one was offloading any tickets for that show
