Lots of good music so far this year and a lot on these lists that I love and others I want to check out.
Caroline Rose was mentioned once, but I really feel like that album needs more love. It's great.
Samia also put out Honey early on in the year and it's so good. Got a chance to see them play it live and it was perfect. Highly recommend both for people enjoying the boygenius LP.

I've been a fan of Portugal. The Man since 2006, Woodstock went a bit out of the direction that I most enjoyed them in but I was happy for their success. Chris Black Changed My Life is still in a direction that I don't prefer them in, but I'll say that the album is really good and I've listened to it quite a few times and it'll be on my list this year for sure.

Glad everyone is enjoying the lists! I dropped this into the Twitter-verse too, but here were my favorite EP’s I enjoyed this year:

  4. Good list. (Pleasantly) surprised at Foo Fighters taking the #1 spot, that album is very deserving. Also surprised boygenius isn't higher, but glad it's in the top 10! Everyone should listen to Youth Lagoon

This is probably my song of the year thus far. I admittedly don't know much about the genre but this song is so well done and is one of the few songs that hit me in a profound way that had me thinking about it and going back to it on my playlists over and over.

By far my most listened to are Paramore and Origami Angel. Some great stuff out this year!

  7. There hasn’t been too much that I’ve gone back to this year. But the new Fiddlehead song is a jam and I’m really looking forward to that album.

I'd just have to use my last.fm and see what I had on most frequently; that would be "the record" by boygenius far above anything else, later Paramore, Fall Out Boy and Samia with "Honey".

Other albums that I see around the 100x mark on my list - within that group if you've still still skipped any of these I could definitely recommend checking them out as they're definitely far from a letdown in my opinion, great output! I'll try to vaguely categorize some of these (totally random thoughts behind it though):

    Runner, Mat Kerekes, Free Range
Niall Summerton, Ryan Beatty, Medium Build (EP)
M83, The National, Lies, Sigur Rós
    City and Colour
    Andy Shauf, Charlotte Cornfield
    Samiam, Fucked Up
hm from the top of my head: Elliott Green, Greg Mendez, Andrew McMahon

Mat Kerekes is slept on, his solo albums have all been great. Nova was one of my favorites last year too. Citizen's latest the year before.

Also really love that Andy Shauf record. He really knows how to tell a story.

Couldn't agree more on both accounts, both of these albums have some impressive strength to them. I wish Mat would include more songs resembling the first single though, but it's still so solid!

A fine record, but definitely their weakest unfortunately.

Shocked FOB is up top let alone on the list.

Origami Angel continues to destroy all expectations.
