I enjoy Founder's simplistic designs. It's lame, but I keep one empty bottle of every founders beer I have.
Just got in to MI and I'm drinking a Dark Horse. Checking out the selection from me and my dad, and what one of my cousins supplied and if is looking badass. On top of all the Cycle and Cigar City stuff we sent up, we have some Dark Lord and an assortment of Bourbon County from over the years including an 8 year vertical of BCBS. Haven't seen what my other cousin is providing yet, but he usually brings in the big guns.
I went to Thumb Brewing up in Caseville, I think it was and they were fantastic. One of the best small town breweries I've ever been to.
Wicked Weed is another brewery that makes good beer but their labels are so whack in my opinion. Side Projects are great though. I love Rare Barrels as well.
I think Boatyard from Kalamazoo have some great labels. Their beer is not good, but they have sexy cans IMO. Full disclosure: One of the co-owner's sons is one of my good friends. Still, the beer (and he'd agree) is not good.
It was entirely forgettable when I had it, but I didn't know the age of the can, either. My buddy, who's been brewing in Seattle for a couple of years, came back and visited his dad's brewery and he said he was pretty disappointed all around: from the way that they ran the place, to their schedule and the recipes. Good people, though.
I had the Kanye beer tonight, and while I appreciate the effort... it was pretty terrible. Also, it seems they got in legal trouble and had to recall it also, hah.
So, I went to Zwanze Day at Fonta Flora on Saturday. Had a great time. While there I had: Cantillon Zwanze, Cantillon Iris, Cantillon Classic Gueuze, Cantillon Mamouche, Cantillon Kriek, Jester King Das Uberkind, Jester King Fen Tao, and Fonta Flora's new Juniper Sahti called Plumage. They also had a keg of Fantome Saison there but the tap blew off and they had to pour it into pitchers, so it was flat. Had a mini bottle share beforehand with a 2006 Cantillon Oude Lambik, 2010 Cantillon Cuvee Saint-Gilloise, Mikkeller Cocoa Shake, some Trillium cans, and a few other bottles from Quest, Logsdon, and Wicked Weed.
Nice little bottle share this past Friday night for my friend's birthday: The Bruery - So Happens It's Tuesday Trillium - Double Dry Hopped Melcher Street The Bruery - Arbre Light Toast Swamp Head / Cigar City - Roosevelt Jester King / High Note - Beachtimez Sportzketball Jolly Pumpkin - La Roja (2011) Night Shift - Morph 08/25/16 Grimm - Subliminal Message Cigar City - Decoherence 3 Floyds - BA Blot Out The Sun (2013) Can't get over that Decoherence. Just ridiculous.
Haven't had that one, but Carton also does a barrel aged (rum) porter called Shipwreck and it's fantastic.
Pretty good. Check the bottle date. I had one that was less than a year old and it was incredibly boozy. If it's that same batch (which I think it is) it should've mellowed out and become pretty solid.
I rep Off Color a ton here, but I love their labels Also had some friends in from Austria this weekend and had some friendly jousting as to who makes the better beer (particularly pilsners) between the countries. My buddy liked Ballast Point's Longfin Longer and Lagunitas Pils in that order, couldn't handle Victory at Sea though and I had to drain pour it almost 4/5ths full lol.
always see this one floating around and always want to try it just because of the label but it's $15 a bottle :- /
