Picked up Lindemanns Apple lambic, racer 5 ipa, Anderson valley boont amber ale, and founders breakfast stout today. Excited to try them all! I had lagunitas Ipa for the first time today, it was pretty good.
Completely agree. They've also had a lot of issues in the past with infection, as well. I had an apple brandy noir AND a vanilla noir that were GROSS. Good luck! Been wanting to take the trip up there myself sometime soon but at 2.5 hours each way I balk at the chance to miss out. NO. No no no do NOT drink them. They are disgusting fresh, INCREDIBLE aged. I had a 2007 120 Minute last year and it was one of the best beers I've ever tasted. We've been keeping them for the past few years to eventually do a few year vert. WAIT ON IT. Trust me. Temp should be fine; it's a little high but its the light, not the temperature you have to worry about fucking up a beer. Keep it in your dark closet and you'll have no issues. ...if you didn't like it fresh why tell him to drink it?! lol. You know I'm always willing to trade, haha. Loved the Veil beers you sent, especially the IdontwanttoBU. You get to try all the beers we sent? I think we're hitting other half in two weeks if you want to plan another swap! Good Gourd is phenomenal but my god was the rum barrel aged Good Gourd Almighty horrendous. It tasted like a pumpkin soaked in lighter fluid. Unsubscribe.
No I haven't tried them all yet. I was saving them to share a few with my brother while he was here but then we had growlers of Hill Farmstead to drink and some other beers. I'm working through them this week. Not going to be spending any more money on beer for a while until I go to Tired Hands next month.
man, i aged mine for a couple of years (drank it about six months ago, i wanna say), and it was great. we all loved it.
I'm going to Tired Hands on Saturday! Pretty stoked, haven't been in a while. I had it at Hunahpu Day so I didn't have that luxury, unfortunately. I can see how it would be good if it mellowed out. Glad you waited on it!
You just reminded me, I need to pick up a 2016 bottle. We have 5 bottles at home, 2011-2015, that we've been saving to do a vert. Going to be insane.
My girlfriend is at a concert an hour away and I didn't make any plans so I could stay in and just veg for a whole night alone. Already had/on the docket for the rest of the night: Founders Breakfast stout. This year >>>> last year. Way more chocolate, coffee is toned down. Killer brew. Oskar Blues Ten Fidy - My bottle shop for some reason (most likely price related) just does not move Ten Fidy. So I'm enjoy a can with a canning date of 8/26/15. Killer with over a year on it. Loads of dark fruits throughout all of it, some chocolate in the middle and finishes with a nice, dry hint of bitterness. Love this beer. On deck, maybe not in this order: Gateway from Griffin Claw brewing - one of the better session IPA's in Michigan. This, for me, crushes All Day IPA if you're looking for a nice session. Brewery Vivant's Paris - a red wine barrel aged sour? I'm all in. Three Floyd's Alpha King - a friend brought one back for me. It's always a great beer, especially at just a week old; canned on 9/1. I also picked up a Beast Grand Cru from Avery as it was the cheapest I'd seen their high alcohol aged beers at just $10 for the bottle. That will be saved. Also picked up four bottles of bell's 30th anniversary which I think is possibly their best beer after Black Note. It's fucking killer. These were bottled last august and they sent some out to the market again today as a surprise.
Agreed on Breakfast Stout. I had one last weekend, and it was fantastic. I used to really love it, but I've been down on it the last few years, but this one tasted great.
Got a big delivery of stuff today. Lots of pretty fresh IPAs and some big DIPAs. Looking forward to getting into all of this... My dad and I have a couple Breakfast stouts and Backwoods from last year aging along with BCBS, can't wait to crack them when the weather turns.
Backwoods Bastard ages so well. Unfortunately, I didn't pick any up last year. If the BCBS '15 is what you're talking about, be careful with what batch it is. I've seen people complain about infection in the regular BCBS as well. I still have a coffee left that I was thinking about cutting with Madame Rose to make it drinkable.
unable to find it cause I'm at work, but there's a pinned post on the beer subreddit that says which batches are contaminated and which ones are not. depends on the date it was bottled - I'm lucky that mine wasn't contaminated.
