Do it, man. All I've done at this local brewery has been bartend, help brew one 7 BBL batch of beer and then clean kegs/fermenters/mash tuns and it's been horrendous work in the brewhouse since there's no AC and it's been at least 90 each day of my shift. But it's fun knowing that a beer I help mill grains/transfer/worked on is going to make it out to distribution around town. Plus, the beer community is incredibly nice. I've met only one or two bad apples, the rest are some of the most generous people in the world. When I was working at a bottle shop we had people ask for that beer A TON because they'd have it in Ohio and then couldn't get it in Michigan. This will appear condescending and judgemental, but from the people that asked about it, it definitely seemed like a garbage beer. These people would ask about it and then walk out with some Atwater or some Leinie afterwards confirming my suspicions.
Brought the Berliner Weisse I kegged up the other night to my bottle share tonight and made a homemade grape syrup to go with it. Turned out surprisingly well. Nothing mind blowing, but a solid low abv, tart Berliner. Definitely a beer I could drink all summer long. Looking forward to making it again.
Went to Tennessee Brew Works last night and it was pretty good overall! My favorite was the sweet potato stout, nice flavor
picked up half a case of Neshaminy Creek's Shape of Hops to Come. so delicious. I feel like they would have a bigger name if their distribution was a little wider - I think it's only in the Greater Philadelphia area and South Jersey.
Managed to get my hands on a bottle of Perrin Big Griz, excited to open that up this weekend. Sleeper Cell and Barrel Aged Redankulous were so good.
Just got back from 350 fest, only been to two real beer fests but it seems like the common theme is for a good amount of the companies to over pour or not take tickets at all.
Dope! Glad to hear BBA Redankulous was awesome; place I used to work at hasn't tapped it yet. Let me know what you think of Big Griz. Sleeper Cell is killer.
Been getting into beer more lately. I bought a 22 oz bottle of caldera's toasted coconut chocolate porter to share with my girlfriend, but we're both under the weather and congested so we couldn't taste it that well. What I could taste of it I liked and it was very smooth. Also picked up: Anderson valley Briney melon gose Einstok toasted porter Deschutes black butte porter Duvel Full sail Amber First time trying all of those but I'm gonna hold off til I'm less sick.
Kentucky Bourbon Barrel isn't even half as bad as some of you made it out to be! Freakin snobs... haha
Founders Breakfast Stout showed up in my area today and I bought a four pack so fast. Not a hard to get beer but one of my favorite seasonals.
Breakfast stout is Amazeballs. Sometimes I fantasize about pouring a bottle into my coffee mug at work to make my day better.
It was real tempting to do that today haha. On another note, looks like the next Founders Backstage Series was revealed: Founders - Lizard of Koz Blueberry Imperial Stout Coming To Bottles ~ mybeerbuzz.com - Bringing Good Beers & Good People Together... pretty excited for this one.
Bottling it, probably not. Maple barrels are hard to come by and very expensive. They'll do the occasional tapping at certain events, but I doubt it ever gets bottled again. Which is a heartbreaker, it's one one my most sought after beers.
CBS gets tapped like 2-3 times a year at the brewery and it's fantastic to always be like, an hour from there.
