Also, very sorry for the triple post, but met a guy from MA in a bar in NY. Bought him a few rounds, and he agreed to send me some Treehouse and Trillium beers down to SD while I'm there. Really looking forward to getting my hands on some Julius.
If you are near Petco you gotta check out Half Door, that place is in a really cool like... cottage(?), anyway it's very pretty and has a nice little taplist. I really love Monkey Paw, they do a lot of things that are a bit off the wall but pay off nicely. Belching Beaver if you're in North Park at all, ummmmm Stone Liberty Station is particularly cool as well, it's on like... an old naval base or some shit. Umm Modern Times is A+, Mission is enjoyable, I didn't really like Acoustic, I was told Bolt is a fun little new spot, I think that's all I got!
My girlfriend secured a trade for four cans of Tree House beers and the dude just wanted local stuff back. Feel like I'm ripping him off but I'm so excited. Got a can of Julius, Green, Bright and Alter Ego in the deal. Almost wish I wasn't going out of town this weekend.
Shipyard is BOGO this week. Got four six packs of the Blood Orange. I hope they don't have this sale in October or November. My wallet can't handle BOGO Pumpkinhead.
Great beer day for me. My dad came to town and brought a big selection of Tree House and Trillium that my cousin got recently. Just did a Doppleganger vs. Doppleganger taste test of one from 6/22 vs. 7/21. So good. Also hit Cigar City on our way home from Orlando today (we were away for our anniversary) where I had Hunahpu, Humidor IPA (my favorite beer of all time), White Oak Jai Alai, Jai Alai, and Tequila Oak Key Lime IPA. Also took home a bottle of Good Nightmare Mekong and a 6 pack of Guaybara. That all sounds like an afterthought, which makes it all even more amazing! Might head back there tomorrow when they release Marshal Zhukov.
Hope you went to CCB today for the Zhukov treatment they had for Growler Tuesday! That Mekong is killer.
Also interested in this. Going out there next month as well. Only places in San Francisco I'm set on so far are Rare Barrel, Cellarmaker and Almanac. Also planning on doing Russian River and Sante Adarius while I'm out there, but they're both like an hour north/south of the city.
Was away for a few weeks but got to check out Boulevard's new facility in KC which was an incredible space.
I found Oracle to be quite bitter this year, and not in a good way. I also have a can of Lake Effect in my fridge that I picked up a couple weeks ago. I haven't had it in forever and had to buy it since it's my buddy's dad who is a co-owner of it and I didn't know they canned. Sexy looking cans, though. Probably my favorite in the state.
Good beer day for me (though my car died on the way back to the office and I spent two hours waiting on AAA to come tow my car). Got two bottles of Cigar City's Marshall Zhukov RIS and a bottle of Cantillon's Classic Gueuze.
Founders is bottling and canning PC Pils this year. Not bad. Very curious to see what the next backstage series is.
On vacation at the Outer Banks and found a bottle shop with Wicked Weed and Jolly Pumpkin. I will be returning to Pittsburgh a very happy man.
Kegs of 2015 ReDANKulous aged in bourbon barrels for a year just went this week. I bet the next backstage will be a re-release of sorts.
So I got talking to a guy in New York about beer. Turns out he was from MA and offered to send me some beer. Got a package in San Diego this morning, filled with Treehouse and Trillium beers. Currently drinking Julius - Treehouse. It's incredible, so fruity and tasty. So worth the hype. So glad I got to try this.
Just drank Pot and Kettle with Cold Brew Coffee by Trillium. Holy wow, what a porter. I'm now drinking Haze by Treehouse. An Imperial Pale Ale. 8.2%, absolutely great. Again pretty fruity taste, drinks so easily. Treehouse is great.
Nice! I had Alter Ego and Bright the other night. Still have Julius and Green in the fridge that I have to get to. These are the types of hoppy beers I want. Low bitter, big fruit, pushing the boundaries of what we've known as hoppy beers. Awesome stuff.
Getting to work through a shipment of Trillium I got recently: - Summer Street - Sleeper Street - Congress Street - Fort Point - Little Rooster Very excited. Fort Point is the only Trullium beer I've had previously.
