Going off memory here, so I don't remember the exact details, but Westy and Abt 12 are heavily connected. I think St. Bernardus was somehow an off-shoot of Westvleteren and the beers are actually the same exact recipe, just made at different places now.
St. Bernardus brewed for Westvleteren for like 40 years, until other laws came into place that had Westvleteren brewing for themselves. It's a similar/same recipe except for water and yeast, as far as anyone can tell.
I've made it a personal goal of mine to drink a dogfish head 60, 90, and 120 IPA back to back to back and see if I can walk afterwards.
^ As far as alcohol content goes, that's about the same as drinking 8 Bud Light cans. (You'd just be drinking less water by going the DFH route)
I mean I'm not a huge fan of Belgian beers (Dubbles/Tripels/Quads), something in the specific yeast strain that I'm just not a fan of. It isn't bad, but I definitely don't see how it was the #1 rated beer for years.
Exclusivity. All those top beer lists are so fucking dumb. Currently on Beer Advocate (bleh) American Double / Imperial Stout American Double / Imperial Stout American Double / Imperial Stout American Double / Imperial IPA American Double / Imperial IPA American Double / Imperial IPA American Double / Imperial Stout American Double / Imperial IPA American Double / Imperial Stout American Double / Imperial Stout Like really...
IF you get New Holland's Tasmanian Hatter around you, grab it. Mosaic, Nelson, Citra hops. Malt is standard Midwestern-style, but man it's a great IPA. In the running for my favorite in the state.
Going to look for this on my lunch today. By the by, I quite enjoyed Hopsoulution. I was cycling between that, Chillwave, and Lagunitas Waldos', for a couple weeks and enjoyed all 3 (though Waldos' was a clear favorite). Hopsoulution was definitely unique and had a bitterness character that was pronounced, though not unpleasant, somewhere between a German and Czech pils.
No, you get nothing until you come up and visit us again! It's been toooooo long! (Since the Sharknado premiere? LOL)
