Depends on the area you live in for specific recommendations, but I'd try a pilsner from any local craft brewery. Same general style as heineken, so that would be a good way to ease yourself in.
Had a party in the office tonight to celebrate a recent expansion and they had a company come in and do a wine pairing. Little disappointed I didn't know about it ahead of time to bring some beers to pair as well.
Picked up a sixer of Mother Earth's Endless River on the way home tonight. I've had a couple different beers of there's... this is by far their best. Local NC brewery, definitely try it out if you can find it.
My first foray into beer that isn't pisswater is Scrimshaw. Its It's pretty light but I really like it. Excited to branch out and get some favorites
Got two Cigar City tasting glasses+foam coverings (is that just a koozie? lol) + a Cigar City shirt from my aunt who works for the Tampa Bay Convention Center and picked them up when the company was doing a showcase in Chicago. Kinda stoked I might be getting a fairly steady free stream of their products up my way now when I'm in town lol. Also hit up a suburban brewery Imperial Oak yesterday which was good, definitely growing more fond of sour beers.
Was able to pick up two Sip of Sunshine cans on Thursday. Had one that night. Saving the other for tomorrow. It was delicious.
I'm at Green Bench in St. Pete. I didn't used to care much for this place, but they have an awesome lot attached. The beer is a lot better now that they've found their niche and focus on Belgians and saisons.
A coworker bought me bottles of: Allagash - Black Maine Brewing Co - Lunch I'd highly recommend both.
GF was out of town visiting her sister last night, showed up back home today with a 2 mixed cases of craft beer for me from a shop down in Charlotte. I think I have a keeper
Industry Public House in Pittsburgh. 60 taps. I had their house IPA and a Stone Americano Stout. Both were very good.
anyone here a new glarus brewery fan? they have a new beer coming out soon called "bubbler." i guess it's a hefeweizen. very excited to try it.
Not sure if this has been brought up in the thread before, but would anyone be interested in doing some beer trades/sales? I live in the midwest and have access to FFF and the like. I'd really like to find someone in the NE area to trade or buy from.
Alright beer nerds (fellow beer nerds? most of you guys are way more advanced than I am). I am planning a very large roadtrip with my g/f to take place next summer (thread and details here), and as the thread says, we'll be stopping at a brewpub in every state we drive through if possible. As we go through northern Indiana (right along the border), does anyone have any suggestions for breweries to try around there? I'm thinking South Bend is probably where we'll stop, and a quick google search turned up a number of options. Anyone have any favorites?
3 Floyds, easily. It's not in South Bend (tbh, nothing is in South Bend except Notre Dame, wouldn't be on my list of suggestions) but it's in Northwest Indiana on the way to/from Chicago.
