Bought my first cans of Arrogant Bastard, I'm sure it won't taste any different but I'm going to have one tonight
I enjoy being a buzzkill. Sorry, Tate. :) For anybody in the Chicago area, fresh Pipeworks Lizard King might be my favorite pale ale ATM. I had a 6 day old can yesterday, and it was phenomenal.
I got the chance to have a pretty fresh (six weeks I think) Lizard King a couple months ago and it wasn't as good as the rating (though I now see I gave it 4.25 instead of the 3.75/4.0 I meant to give it.)
Anyone been able to get their hands on an Oberon mini keg yet? Just been holding out for that and Poolside Ale...
I had the Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin in cans once and somehow I thought it tasted better. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
At first I read that as "got some dope beers in the mall" and was thinking, "what mall is that?!" Then I realized I can't read. Still awesome haul, though!
They do!? From whom, and why? Cans are the far superior beer packaging format compared to bottles. They let in less light and oxygen, and make for much fresher tasting beer. It's almost to the point where I refuse to buy bottled beers and when given the choice (e.g. Sculpin/Grapefruit Sculpin) I will always choose cans over bottles.
Just picked up a create-your-own-six-pack from the grocery store I work at. I went with 2 Brooklyn Summer Ale's, 2 Coney Island Mermaid Pilsner's and 2 Goose Island Summer Ale's. I've had them all before so I know I'm going to enjoy them. I wasn't really in the mood for trying things but I wanted the variety.
I'm so glad Goose went back to the OG summer ale this year, it was always one of my favorites/go-tos and I've missed it dearly.
Yeah i really enjoy that one, drinking it now actually. The first time i had t was at a Mets game two weeks ago and now I'm hooked.
Heard the Oberon kegs just keep getting delayed and delayed. Damn, I'm jealous. This was apparently a joke on the brewery's part. Then again, Saugatuck does do some one-off humorous stuff. A wholesaler was leaving the distributor he was working for to become president of sales at Arbor Brewing and his last name is Rabe (rhymes with baby) and Saugatuck brewed him a beer for his going away party at one of East Lansing's busiest bars and it was Hit Me Rabe One More Time. Great beer, too. I think people still hold a big stigma against them because of the "can flavor" which I still get from some cans. I just pour them into a glass. But I agree, I don't buy bottles if cans are an option.
In Williamsburg for a work thing so I popped in to Virginia Beer Company. 8 Beer Flight Plan + Bonus. So far so delicious.
So I just finished my last final and I am looking forward to relaxing and playing nba 2k16 until my eyes bleed. Thinking of actually buying a decent beer tonight but don't know anything. If I like Heineken, what sort of things would be similar? Also recommendations?
