I've done the same mistake lol, but now I have a champagne bottle cap thing that I use to extend them multiple nights
I'm not that familiar with SF. Only 2nd time I've been but Toronado (Not Troubadour!) was recommended by a friend that used to live there. It's a dive bar with a crazy great tap list. And apparently a major Russian River collaboration. They have bottles of their own anniversary with Russian River and have like 6-7 RR things on tap. Saw an almost fight and seemed like a wild little neighborhood but was a great selection like I said. Humble Sea had 2 lagers, a ton of IPA's, low abv Irish stout and then the BA that was Vanilla/Coconut adjunct. So not crazy of things. Just a super solid BA. Apparently it was from 2023. Had their anniversary DIPA as well and it was fantastic. https://www.instagram.com/p/DVjmNenks3j/?img_index=1 Apparently Ghost Town is in Oakland and their Funeral Ganache was a great BA pour. https://untappd.com/b/ghost-town-brewing-funeral-ganache/6569920#google_vignette Moksa is in Rocklin, CA. I had their Stout/Barleywine and it was also great. Conflation - Moksa Brewing Co - Untappd
Haha oh okay I know Toronado. Yes, their selection is insane. And prices are actually reasonable which is crazy for SF. I don’t love the vibe there which is why I’m not a regular but I certainly appreciate it. They do a barleywine festival every fall that is fantastic. Yeah Ghost Town gets a good amount of hype around here although personally I’ve never understood it, I think they are just above average. haven’t had the funeral ganache, that sounds interesting. Unfortunately their barrel-aged tripel was one of the worst beers I had last year. Moksa is a good one especially for their BA stuff. Haven’t been up there in a long while though!
I've always said Double Galaxy on draft at Parker Pie in Vt might be the best IPA I've ever had. The other day when I opened and pour of Double Mt Nelson by Cellarmaker that's the closest I've ever come to that experience in a long long time. I wish I bought more than a four pack.
Was in SF a few weeks ago and had a magical Toronado experience. Incredible place and I hope that with the rumors of their demise now being over a year ago means they’re going to be around for the long haul. They had the half acre triple barrel barleywine on tap and I actually got two pours of it, it was an unbelievable beer. Also had McIlheney Muntz, aka og non sellout Alpine Nelson and it is pretty easily my favorite IPA I’ve ever had not made in MA or VT.
Lagers have been my go to lately. Current obsession is Czech dark lagers which are way easier to come by than I'd have thought. Schilling's Modernism and Sacred Profane's Dark Lager have been my recent favorites, both top notch examples imo and super easy to find any time of year around here. And just picked up some cans of the same style from Tributary in Kittery this weekend. Had a pour of their new take on a Czech pale lager which was pretty damn good while I was there.
Alright, local spot is finally cooking again these past few weeks. Bought 22 different/new beers this week. Not great on the wallet, but makes up for lost time.
Went to Geisthaus up in Sac for the second time, and this time they had their slow pour landbier! It was delish
Speaking of PEACH - I just preordered this bad boy. Revolution's Straight Jacket barleywine is one of my all-time favs, so adding peach brandy seems like a dream. This brewery is very special as my wife and I got married there in 2023! Peach Brandy Barrel DBVSOJ | Revolution Brewing
Everything from their Deep Wood series is fantastic. I'm actually really looking forward to getting up to Chicago at some point to check them out.
Schilling impresses me with every new thing I try from them, also have their Baltic porter in the fridge.
Haven’t really been going to breweries much for a while but changed that yesterday since I was off from work. Hit up Silvaticus in Amesbury then ended the day with sandwiches at Liar’s Bench in Portsmouth. Had the brett saison and black lager at Silvaticus. S tier stuff if you ask me. Some of my favorite branding I’ve seen for a brewery in a while too. Had a great unfiltered lager and a ridiculous brown ale at Liars Bench. Their great food was a huge plus too.
