Wayfinder Brewing finds their way down here with regularity now and they’re making some of my favorite lagers. They have a Portland brewpub and a taproom in troutdale that I’d love to explore next time I’m up that way. I was really impressed by Von Ebert last time I was up there - good range of styles all done well. Upright brewing isn’t the coolest venue but also has good beers especially if you like funky or sour stuff
Portland OR- thanks for the recs. Day one hit up Breakside, Great Notion, Migration, Comensal (ex head brewer of Cascade), Everywhere, Brujos, Von Ebert. Lots of stories along the way but Everywhere was doing 3 year anniversary and did a bottle tasting and that was the highlight.
Went to a Giants game last night with the fam. Had a Space Dust on tap and a 805. Haven’t had beer at a baseball game in a minute and they both hit
Sounds great, I didn’t even realize everywhere had a Portland location, thought they were just socal.
Canned on 5/2/24. This beer ages so well, tons of chocolate and a ridiculous body with relatively no alcohol bite. Really wish I’d gotten more than one pack of this.
I had an IC Light at a Sox game in Pittsburgh last year and it was perfect. Harpoon at Fenway is another great baseball beer.
Day two was less busy but Upright and Stormbreaker and then two tap shops (Tiny Bubble Room and Treebeard’s Taphouse) Best food I had while I was there is Third Coast Hot Dogs. Half motorcycle shop/half bar/hot dogs.
First festbier/Oktoberfest/Märzens of the year. I remember being disappointed by this Schilling in the past, must’ve been a bad can because this is excellent.
Ugh 21st Amendment closing down. That’s the third brewery we distro to close in the last 5 months. Not sure how far they distro but they’re p popular in Nor Cal. Hell or High Watermelon is their staple
I was just wondering if they still existed or not. I remember buying that watermelon one and blood orange IPA of theirs for camping trips a couple years ago but haven’t seen them in Phoenix in a long while. what were the other two that closed down?
@jciswhatis stopped by everywhere for the first time in a while today, while it's always good, it's also frustrating haha. They had 10 ipas, 4 pilsners, a kolsch and feistbeer and that's all!! Pleasant, sure, but really lacking in variety. I know they had at least two barrel aged goodies, but for members only... Anyway, we brought home a bottle of their rum barrel aged painkiller hard seltzer and it looks nuts, probably will pop it open tomorrow
I’m saying! They are super nice. If you know the dudes that run it and strike up a convo with them. They will at least let you sample the members only. (Especially if you act interested in it) I think that’s one of the two they had for the 3YA in Portland and I thought it was good. I just can’t drink a lot of smoothies.
Looked at Costco for the Kirkland Lager (it's made by Deschutes and is supposedly really good for the price) but apparently there's some bullshit law in Texas that prevents them from selling third party branded beer or something
