Not beer but a revolver with mesquite smoke. Think I just found my new favorite cocktail. Happy new year, friends.
spent NYE at Grimm for their ticketed open bar and it was hands down the best NYE out I've ever had. pretty much all who were there were regulars, I could walk right up to the bar with little to no wait, snacks were on point, and they did a midnight beer release. not surprised they crushed it.
I did the early bird pricing and it was $100 for a 4 hour open bar, some food from LaLa's, a midnight release, and champagne toast. I think the standard price was $125.
Anyone have advice for flying with beers? I’m bringing a couple bombers in checked luggage tomorrow. Hardshell case, have bubble wrap too.
Sounds like you're good to go. some people might tape the tops before bubble wrapping. you could probably just wrap them in clothes. Thats what I have done.
If they will fit put them in a plastic bag after wrapping in bubble wrap. That way if there is a leak it will hopefully stay contained in the bag. I also tried to place some article of clothing between each bottle in the suitcase to give extra padding.
My January has been dry so far since I have a head cold and cant enjoy beer without being able to smell. Really wanted to pop open my bottle of BA Peanut Butter Framinghammer this weekend while we were snowed in.
I just saw your earlier post and realized you are from southern Maine... Southern NH here. been meaning to try more from Mast Landing than just Gunners. What do you recommend?
oh shit hello neighbor haha I honestly really love Gunner's Daughter, best milk stout I've had in a long time and have found similar enjoyment in their other dark stuff, only tried a few of them though. Recently had their Alpine Adventure Club chocolate mint imperial stout and it was incredible, almost like a thin mint in beer form. Also had a collab they did with Vitamin Sea out of Mass, a double NEIPA called *Equip Sunglasses* which I thought was pretty great as well. They're definitely one of the breweries Im keeping on my radar and I gotta actually make a trip up to them some time to try their other flagship beers. 10/10 recommend grabbing something from them off the shelf if you see it.
Managed to snag a bottle each of Pliny the Elder and Pliny For President at my local shop today, don't think I've ever had any other RR stuff so pretty glad I was able to get them since the place I go to only gets like a single box of their stuff on any release
San Francisco Beer Week is next week, and there are so many cool events. I’m particularly looking forward to a lambic event that I’ve gone to 3 or 4 times before and is always a blast (although I’m burnt out on lambic for a couple months afterward lol). I’ll probably go to a couple other events as well, depending on how much I spend on lambic haha.
Chose Stone’s gluten-reduced Delicious IPA for the Super Bowl and after 5 (quite a bit for me on a Sunday night) and I feel great.
