Ended up just staying at Almanac because we had a big group and it was hard to mobilize haha, back to the hotel to drink till the wedding more! Really cool area though, I gotta come back and explore more
Founders redesign sucks and I still won’t buy any of their stuff anymore after all the shit they’ve pulled
The thing I don't like about the new Founders label is the continuous accusations of racism against the brewery.
Me and my wife have been doing good not drinking during the week so I’m excited to try this. Sounds just like a regular apple cider tho lol
Officially drinking again as of a couple weeks ago. Honestly, the only real benefit I noticed during my break from drinking was losing a few pounds. I'd hoped to see more improvement in my mental health and/or sleep, but it just didn't happen. I'm planning on drinking less than I did prior to taking the break, but I'm really enjoying being able to socially drink again. Last weekend, I went to a showing of Bottle Conditioned, a documentary about lambic. Pretty interesting movie (although if you're not into beer/lambic, I could understand finding it boring). Unbeknownst to me, the venue allowed us to share bottles, so I felt kind of bad that I didn't bring anything, but was appreciative of everyone's generosity. The best beer I tried was actually a pour from a 2017/18 Tilquin magnum, but there were a lot of highlights including a Bokke Goatwalker magnum, one of five in existence according to the guy who brought it. It was a good time! If you're into lambic and there's a showing near you, I'd recommend it.
Oh man wish I would've known about this sooner, they did a screening this past summer at a local brewery. I've probably got too many tilquin bottles sitting around from years ago. It use to be harder to get now it just sits on shelves lol.
Been doing really good not drinking during the work week. Bought a Elysian pumpkin VP for the weekend. Cheers
I've been monitoring when its coming back to NYC, but no luck. I think they had a screening sometime ago in LIC, but I missed it.
Honestly, Tilquin is right up there with 3F and Cantillon for me. Some of their fruited 375 mL bottles I’ve found to be under carbonated, but aside from that, they’re always excellent. Picked up a bottle of Paul, one of their unfruited blends, at the event. I’m sure it’ll be back eventually. They had a showing at the Sonoma Film Fest that I missed, I’m lucky it was shown again so soon in my general vicinity.
My first Maine Beer Trail prize arrived this week, I’ll have to have some Maine beers this weekend too
stopped by tree house for an hour before they closed on Friday to grab a few slices of pizza and some Pizzeria Pils. A perfect pairing, made even better by sitting outside and watching a great jam band play
