Man, I went to Smuttlabs Brewery over the weekend and the food and drinks were incredible. Highly recommend to any New Englanders
I should definitely go there. I was kind of under the impression that smuttynose sold out or closed so great to hear that they still have a spot and it's good!! SD beer update: I'm now staying near Bine n Vine which has to be in the top 3 or 4 beer stores I've ever been. I only grabbed a Pliny and a Great Notion Blueberry Muffin* but as long as I continue to not test positive I imagine I'll be back in the next couple days. *kettle sours are gross. like, this beer tastes good but it smells like throw up. I will happily drink virtually any beer style classic or pastry alike, but kettle sours and lactose in IPAs are the two things I just cannot abide. I also went to Mcilhenney today to pick up a couple four packs, kind of cool in that they were Alpine then sold out then Green Flash tanked and now they have their own brewery again. I have this vague feeling I read a long time ago the main guy is an asshole but I hope not as the beer is really really good.
it honestly tastes so good but the smell is a bit offputting to me. i'm gonna finish it and i can't say i don't enjoy it overall but it's not killing my kettle sour bias
I used to be super into kettle sours, but now I almost never desire them and have a bunch sitting idly in my beer fridge.
The more I've read about this it sounds like NS has some financial woes that make a temporary CO2 issue a bigger deal than it will be for breweries that have more ability to pay more for the time being. It's a shame, sucks that they're laying people off and sucks that they're in at least medium term danger as a company - very glad to have them in Boston even if they're not elite. Everett taproom is an elite place to have a beer at the very least.
It’s a bummer, I really like their beer and have had great times at their Oktoberfest/Springfest (and their Everett taproom in general)
SanDiegoVille: Hawaii's Maui Brewing Company Now Set To Purchase San Diego's Modern Times Beer For $15.3 Million
There's something sad to me about how brewery success is almost a bad thing. All these places did so many things right and are to some degree getting punished for it. (Granted, sounds like Night Shift may not perfectly fit that category - the COVID torpedoing of their Philly expansion is a bit different than places that got too big to be cool and have struggled for it.) You basically have to be huge or tiny. Or Tree House.
To be completed In October. Good move for Maui (expensive) but it’ll be nice to get their recipes easily.
Fellas, is beer dead? Was unable to drink for the last month due to work, excited to get back down to Seoul tomorrow and try a few new spots.
Magpie came out with a second series of Diablo beers, found this tonight... pretty damn dark for a red ale, but pretty good.
when i'm in nyc, i do the 1-2 combo of brooklyn brewery, and then whiskey brooklyn next door. there's also about 2-3 breweries within walking distance from barclay's center. threes brewing is the first one i go to. besides the other good recommendations: amplified.
