St. Boniface and the Tied House in Lancaster are hosting a white supremacist event. After protests online they posted a big statement defending it…then deleted it. Fucking scumbags edit: https://instagram.com/lancasteroffline?igshid=YzAyZWRlMzg= saved story/current story have it all
heard about that too. never tried those breweries iirc but not too surprised. lancaster burbs are magaland for real
Have a Boniface wax top anniversary stout in my basement that I might film myself dumping into the toilet
This might not mean a ton if you aren't from SoCal and know the breweries, but pretty crazy stuff with Modern Times going on. First Maui Brewing put in a bit for like, $7.6 million or something to buy them but it was challenged and went to a bid. The bid was yesterday and Brewery X won the bidding for $20 million and unless anything gets in the way, will be the new owners of Modern Times. People are pretty angry for the most part because Modern Times is traditionally very progressive and Brewery X is pretty conservative, things certainly are gonna get weird
I've been more than a few times, it is a HUGE space, like airplane hanger, and their beers are very ok at best. Really good hangout space but not a very exciting craft brewery. But yeah, they refused to close during covid mandates, the parking lot is full of thin blue line truck drivers, etc etc etc
Tree House is only 25 minutes from my new place, this is going to be dangerous. Got some Jjjuliusss and a bag of their Aurora coffee blend too.
I couldn't tell where it started, but Brienne (@ratmagnet, who broke the news about Jean in the first place) was posting shit they were sending her on IG. Then they made a bunch of stories calling her a liar and saying to stop harassing them, and then they'd delete it. A story just broke that Jean has been back at TH since like March and that some staffers are super unhappy with his return. I think the original apology post and the post from the staffers have both been deleted. The rumblings I've heard was that he just never really left, and now he feels comfortable enough to post pictures of himself and take center stage again. Dickhead
Geez. Definitely won't get anything from them anymore. Not that I have since the original Jean stuff but now I'm definitely going to stay away. Though i simultaneously feel like I'm "punishing" everyone that works there.
this is all correct https://www.goodbeerhunting.com/sig...-toxicity-now-hes-back-against-workers-wishes
Also Jean came back to working six days a week at THBC and no one made a statement at all despite last year ‘kicking him out’
I wonder if the other like head brewer at tired hands is still there. I think he was referred to as the magik man
From what I read, he left during the initial hubbub and is over at Attic (I think?) now? The beer has definitely changed since the shakeup, and he was apparently the driving force behind the previous consistency
Very weird. Also don’t see how Brewery X’s business model will actually help Modern Times. I’ve heard they just expanded really quick to sport venues and airports.
Update, June 20, 2022: Lawyers forMTD Asset Acquisition LLC (MTD) have filed an objection to the outcome of the June 17 auction in which Brewery X had a winning bid to acquire Modern Times. Brewbound reports MTD’s president is K. Bagby Taylor. Kurt Bagby Taylor is the founder and former CEO of Next Glass (parent company of Untappd, BeerAdvocate, and Hop Culture). George Taylor, CEO of Wilmington, North Carolina-based TRU Colors Brewery, is Bagby Taylor’s father. Court-appointed receiver Tom Hebrank referred to MTD as “TRU Colors” during a June 20 hearing. In the court filing, MTD objects to the designation of Brewery X as the winning bid, arguing that it actually submitted a higher offer. A reportedly higher bid of $21 million would represent a $1 million increase over Brewery X’s $20 million bid. During the June 20 hearing, Judge John C. Gastelum for the California Superior Court in Orange County said the court would review the complaint and additional documents. There is no timeframe for when a decision will be made. https://www.goodbeerhunting.com/sightlines/2022/6/17/brewery-x-set-to-acquire-modern-times
I was talking to a lawyer about that and he says it sounds like a standard objection that will be overrulled. Essentially Modern Times can choose a best and preferred offer, which is X, despite MTD bidding more. We'll see though!
