Did not realize Bearded Iris was a Nashville brewery. I’ve had at least 6 or 7 of their beers in the Cleveland area. Pretty good.
New to the thread but I live in Nashville. Bearded Iris and Southern Grist are the two easy recs and are both very good. The eastside SG has incredible food and the Sylvan Park BI has really good ramen. If you’re into lagers, Barrique (also has barrel aged sours), Smith & Lentz (great pizza), and Living Waters (+ hazies, stouts, coffee) are my recs. No Quarter, a pinball bar, also always has a solid tap list.
Gonna be spending a few days in Portland, ME next week. I'm going to hit up the usuals (Bissell Brothers, Allagash, maybe Foundation, and then down the road to Maine Beer Co). Any hidden gems I should know about other than those?
People like Goodfire and Belleflower for IPAs. I've had one of them but I can't remember which and it was indeed very good. On the loosely related note of non Bissell IPAs, I think Battery Steel has the best beer in the Foundation complex. I'd second the Oxbow suggestion, it's second only to Allagash (imo) in pure beer quality in the city imo and there's a satellite Duckfat location there now. Sounds like you've been before but if not the lobster roll truck at Allagash is capital e Essential. Non beer rec, but Scales is legitimately one of the best restaurants in New England. And on the complete other end of the spectrum, Slab pizza is awesome and pretty unique, vaguely sicilian style but to the extreme end of things.
One of my old KATUSA's (Korean Soldiers attached to US Forces in Korea to do their mandatory 2 year service) is the communications director for Magpie Brewery and caught up with him yesterday at their Yongsan location where he covered my tab, gave me some merchandise, and then handed me a bunch of beer to take home, including two bottles of their Blizzard compilation (red one has Carolina Reaper pepper in it). Definitely the best stuff I've had here so far.
Smooj vanished from Tavour for some reason. Philly is (allegedly) seeing distro but the spots on their site don’t have it. Ran into the shitty distributor around the corner from my work and there were like 10 boxes of each flavor…unrefrigerated and expired by 8 months. God damn.
Anyone in the MA area, this is a fun beer fest that I’ve been to almost every year. They over-pour you with every drink and there’s no drink tickets to worry about. Surprised that Tree House is listed since they usually just show up unannounced each year (which rocks). I’ll be helping at the Coalescent booth (my brother and friends home brewery)
Cracked a Lagunitas Waldo's Special Ale TIPA on this rare 99 degree Chicago day to finish my work day. I am hoping no one calls me into a Teams meeting for the next hour because this 11.7% bottle is kicking my ass.
