went and helped do some busy work at the victory Philly tap room today and going again tomorrow, training starts next week then the following week is the friends and family soft opening and then, if everything stays on schedule, we’re looking at the 29th for grand opening. there was still a lot of construction going on and tons of people going in and out so I didn’t get pics of anything but trust me when I say this is going to be one of if not the best beer spots in Philly. it’s huge, two floors with half of the second floor being an outdoor patio plus there will be outdoor seating on street level too on the sidewalk, they don’t have the big structures every other restaurant has put up but it’s designed in a way that you’re separated from people walking by pretty well. I think they said we’ll have five beers on tap at any time that are exclusive to the Philly taproom, plus all the mainstay victory beers and six point beers and the bold rock ciders and southern tier stuff. the space is fucking awesome though, easily going to be the coolest place I’ve ever worked. if anyone is in the Philly area I’ll keep ya updated but I highly suggest y’all come check it out it’s gonna be sick
Where's the new place at? Other half is beginning to hire so they must be close to opening as well. Lots going on in the Philly beer scene.
Steeplejack Brewing in a renovated 110 year old church building in NE Portland, this place is very cool
beer tasting day at my victory training. we’ve had golden monkey, sour monkey, prima pils, cloud walker (my favorite victory beer), dirtwolf, classic, and merry monkey
It’s on the Ben Franklin parkway right down the street from Logan circle Edit: wow I was completely unaware other half was taking over the goose island spot (which I never made it to), that’s gonna be awesome
im gonna be in philly the weekend of 11/19-21 with a friend and we will certainly be spending most of our time consuming delicious beverages so, this may be added to the list! he lived in philly for years and we always went to Yards (which we prob will again) but would be nice to check out a new place.
I'm gonna be in soooo much trouble, but good trouble. I currently live 45-50 minutes from The Bruery which you probably can't tell because I drink their beer like I own the place.... but we just bought a place that's legit 10 minutes away. Pray for me, my liver and my wallet. Thank you.
Victory is bringing back storm king which I’ve never had until today, I am going to have growlers upon growlers of that shit in my fridge
well there are oude bruins which are dark Flanders - very tasty. OEC does a sour porter called Phantasma that is very good
Russian River Propitiation is one of the best examples I’ve had, it’s a sour porter aged in petite Sirah wine barrels. Really well-balanced.
From left to right, the overall winners of our annual pumpkin beer tasting. Griffin Claw Screamin Pumpkin was unanimous #1. It’s been so solid over the last couple years.
We have southern tier’s pumpking whiskey at the victory taproom and I’m not a whiskey guy at all and I love it
Picked up the Is/Was and Hop Butcher collab in Chicago last weekend, what a unique beer. An Oktoberfest reimagined through a Belgian lens, got a bunch of traditional Marzen vibes up front (german hops, toast, caramel, etc), and then it turns into this crazy Saison-like thing with esters and raspberry (what?) the rest of the way. Super fun to drink slow and pick apart.
