Picked up a bottle or two of Funky Buddha's Wide Awake It's Morning on the way to work today. Imperial version of their maple bacon coffee porter.
I'm trying to talk my dad into going to get one today while I'm at work. I heard we got 2 cases at the Total Wine by my house.
I consumed a Destihl Here Gose Nothin' last night. Decent gose. It hit the spot after a long work day.
Just downloaded Untappd. Username - Matty2394. Would be cool to have some people on here, see what everyone's drinking
Just got back home and opened a birthday present from my uncle and aunt Brouwerij Kerkom- Reuss lambic Brouwerij Bosteels- Pauwel Kwak Cigar City- Jai Alai Cigar City- Maduro Cigar City- Florida Cracker I am excited
I love this beer! Just had my last of the 6-pack I happened upon on release day, and my co-worker has one waiting for me when I get back from paternity leave. I've never had Pliny the Younger (only Elder) but I've heard this is fairly similar.
I've had Pliny the Elder, never had the younger, either. That's interesting if this is like the Younger, then. Waldo's great. Wish I would've bought a six-pack because I think my boss priced it below market value and whatnot and didn't even know it.
Had my Waldo after a day of drinking, didn't check the ABV til I was almost finished. Continued drinking, rough Sunday
It's great with Lagunitas being in Chicago, all the beers are very reasonably priced. My 6-pack of Waldo cost less than a 6-pack of Sculpin.
Seriously, I feel like if Sculpin were $2 cheaper per six pack that it might be in the regular rotation for me. It's a great beer, but I can't justify paying $13-$14 dollars for a sixer when there are comparable beers for $9-$10.
$3.99 on sale bombers of Hop Stoopid, Cappuccino Stout, Imperial Stout etc. used to be my go-to back in undergrad. Just ridiculous the quality/quantity/Abv at that price.
Yes yes yes yes yes. Had a 2007 120 Minute a year or so ago and it was outstanding. Willie trust me, it's worth it. We've been cellaring the past 3 years and will continue to. SO good.
LOL I wish I could pay $13-14 for a sixer of Sculpy around here. (I call them Sculpies, my husband hates it, lol). I'm at the $16 level (and I buy it because that beer is delicious, especially the grapefruit). 1000% agree on Bourbon County. People go crazy on the variants (which are also amazing) but the base BCBS is a phenomenal beer on its own. Crazy how it sits on the shelves here. You reminded me we have a 5 year vert of this we've been wanting to crack.
Haha, I ended up with 3 bottles; was planning on drinking one but haven't had a chance to. Does storing at the not-proper temperature have a DRASTIC ruining effect? ie. either keeping it in the fridge or my uncontrolled closet, that might go above 70 (but never below 50)
Dude! My husband's going to Boston for a bachelor party next weekend, I'll grab you some Trillium (& Tree House if he makes it there, he's unsure if the timing will work out). We've been e-friends for like 10 years now lol I can hook it up!
!!! Was it old? What other beers have you had from them? I had Bright a day after their first canning and it was delicious, probably my second favorite beer from them (don't know that anything will beat In Perpetuity).
I can see that. I generally will grab it if it's on tap anywhere (and with Ballast Point just coming to the market 6 months ago, they're still all over town for their newness factor), but I'll grab a few bottles every so often because it's right next to Fresh Squeezed for me in terms of widely-available IPA's. It's such a great beer. I go back and forth on whether I like the regular, the GF or the Pineapple the most. 2007 is a long time, but I'm interested in what you've found to be the best time to crack those open. I wasn't going to buy a 120 minute this year but my girlfriend decided we should get one and just sit on it for a while. May just start doing that, if the aging makes it substantially better. What's the profile after some time? Sculpies is terrible and he is right to hate that, haha. BCBS is just delicious. Everything I want in a stout. If having a lineup of every great stout I've been lucky enough to track down (a few I haven't been able to acquire yet), BCBS might still beat them all. Oh shit. Let me know! I'm not sure what I'd have to trade, my cellar is full of things that I kind of want to keep, haha. But, I would be willing to just pay the cost + shipping, if that'd work.
Don't drink it fresh. It's like gasoline. Seriously. Shelve that bad boy as long as you can. As for temp I'd be worried keeping it in a place that could go above 70 but it's up to you. It'd probably be okay but if you're worried about it the fridge is probably best. We have our beer in the garage where it could go up as well but it's the coolest place we have available in our house. It'll be better in a year even, but I'd hold it as long as possible. The older the better, IMO. And not a problem, I'll let you know what Den was able to get since he's traveling in a car with a bunch of dudes so he might not have a lot of room available. I'm sure we can grab one or two at least though!
