Went to grab what I thought was a 4 pack of Clown Shoes Bubble Farm IPA, only to be pleasantly surprised to see it was a 12 pack of it. Never seen it in 12 oz can form before.
https://www.reddit.com/r/TheBrewery...urce=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf I don’t frequent this thread, but wanted to bring it to everyone’s attention that Boulevard has been called out for ongoing misogyny and harassment. This sucks.
Anchor Brewing just did a rebrand for their 125th anniversary. Maybe I’m biased because I loved their old label so much but I’m not feeling this:
kind of, but not really lol. You need an extra boil vessel (hence the 4 vs 3 vessel system mentioned), and it is a little more complicated/manual and takes a decent amount more time. But only on the brew day itself, and they're only brewing once a season as is so doesn't add any time there. I'm interested in what types of malts he's using, vs. what other craft breweries are able to get
This tweet gathered my thoughts on it well: Getting rid of the original Anchor and the California Bear really takes the history out of the labeling. When I went on their tour back in 2016, they bragged about how the brewery has survived several factory fires and new ownership. This rebrand seems to run against their story of longevity.
Yeah, I can see that. I found their old art labels to be equally as unforgettable as the updated one (even tho I like the cans). So long as their bottle shape remains the same, it’s all good. That’s their most recognizable feature to me.
I'm not really bothered by it. Sure, I like the old art a bit better, but this is keeping up with current trends and will be the better business decision to extend their reach.
Tend to agree with @momo32t on this. Maybe their old branding wasn’t trendy but I think it had a lot more character than these new labels, which look entirely forgettable to me.
@bigmike so just found out a local cider shop here is carrying a couple different Schramm’s which is the first I’ve seen over this way. The Statement Lutowka for $30/375 mL and The Smile of Fortune for $50/375 mL. Have you had either of these and thoughts on pricing?
The statement is great. I’ve not had the smile of fortune, but it sounds fantastic. I think a bottle like that might be $40 here retail. Those prices are pretty good. i know you tend to like the funky/dry/sour things but approach these as if they’re dessert wines. But just incredibly well made.
