Happy Halloween all. Poured this one down the drain so I followed up with a bottle logic since I knew I wouldn't need to pour it...
First lambic I’ve had solo in a while, but I’ve been collecting a small stock over the past couple months and was willing to part with 375 mL. Tilquin’s Myrtille Sauvage (lambic w/ wild blueberries). I’ve had this beer a few times before and it is always a treat. This time was no different. It’s quite complex with well-integrated berry flesh and skin along with a well-developed cheesy/woody/barnyard funk. Tilquin beers have a signature funk that I really enjoy and it’s prominent even in their fruited offerings. Still extremely drinkable despite so much going on, in part due to its almost spritzy nature. I’ve been buying a bottle once every couple months or so from a store in SF that seems to have an endless supply. Time to pick up another one if they still have them in stock! At $17.99, it’s not something I can afford to purchase frequently, but it’s reasonably priced considering the quality.
Last year was the first time I ever bought the Rochester Mills 12 Day of Milkshake Stouts. Do they vary every year? There are definitely some here that weren't in it last year. Some are definitely the same though.
I ended up drinking two Dino S’mores after the beer I posted on Saturday and I’m still hungover today
I took it easy this weekend. Few stouts on Friday night. Just Truly Tropicals and Lemonades on Saturday. The Lemonades were not my favorite.
How much that 12 days of stout run? EDIT: You can't be serious.. the 12 pack is only $27?? anyone want to proxy me some? https://taproom.themillsbrewing.com/s/order
Maple one rules Also Rochester Mills milkshake stouts are pretty meh, one of the thinnest stouts I've ever drank and the varieties of it range from okay to mostly bad
I'd say last year's were are all mostly OK. Some of them are a bit much. None of them blew me away. That's why I was wondering if they change year to year, because some of those pictured above for sure weren't included and peeked my interest (Peanut Butter Cup, King Cake, Gingerbread Cookie). I am, however, a HUGE fan of the Rochester Mills Orange Whip and Milkshake Blonde.
Yeah they rotate throughout the years. I dont dig what they do beer wise but they were purchased by Two Roots (I think that’s who it is) that do THC drinks so I think rochester mills is poised to really take a step forward as a company in the next five years.
I had that one a couple weeks ago that you sent, it was very good. I also had that Quad on Halloween that you sent and it was great. It might be the favorite of the ones you sent so far
That's awesome! Yeah I love that quad and the brewery is from, kinda a local secret almost, but a really amazing place
Just found out that my work like 4 years ago made a Weizen Trippelbock that they aged with Maple Syrup but a lot of the maple syrup fermented out and it's 17.8% abv and now my boss is like "we have to drink this!" after I found it in our old records. Also have a second version they did in 2019 which turned out how they wanted at 8.7%.
