Any of you New Jersey folks know if Icarus distributes? There were cans at Wegmans in Cherry Hill today and it was cheaper than buying through them directly lol
Yeah, they were at the Wegmans by me yesterday as well. A lot of liquor stores will take a loss on popular craft stuff just to carry it and get people in the door.
this is how im commemorating my 1st day off in 2 weeks and yea i know i need brighter light bulbs lmao the rogue batsquatch is pretty good imo, firestones always got solid variety packs no weak ones in there
Anyone want to do a beer trade? Had really great trades with @djwildefire and @DontTellMom (even if my box was like three months later).
Sure man. I'm still waiting on mine from the group wide trade... cough @sophos34 But if you like stouts I can do one... that's pretty much all I have at the moment.
i would participate but im really not knowledgeable enough on the scope of distribution of most good breweries. i dont want to be that guy obliviously sending shit to someone that could have gotten it locally ha. i will say this tho, i do live a half hour away from tired hands. throw me a bone and i MIGHT get the motivation to make some shit happen. i primarily like all kinds of ales but also dabble in stouts and wheat beers.
Because I don’t know how to properly post a pic, here’s my IG post haha. A couple of NEIPAs and WCIPAs to start my Saturday.
@bigmike really want to try Schramm’s but haven’t had the opportunity yet. I’ve seen some Superstition Meadery stuff out this way but it’s so expensive, I haven’t pulled the trigger on it. So besides session meads from B. Nectar, my main experience is getting a glass of honey wine with Ethiopian food, which is always good. I actually just found out there’s a meadery up by Point Reyes, so next time I’m up there, I’ll have to check it out
I haven’t had any superstition either, though I’ve seen their bottles around. It’s hard for me to not grab schramms when the opportunity is there so I haven’t explored out of state meads. I think schramms is a must buy 100% of the time.
The first time I had mead I was at a bar that my friend bartended at, he asked if I wanted a sample and poured me a pint. I didn’t realize how strong it was, that was a fun night haha.
I don’t think mead is a thing here (Australia). Is it much of a thing in the US or just specific places?
Cracked open another one of the Great Notion sours I picked up — Berry Pusher with strawberries, blueberries, and honey. Pretty similar to Jammy Pants, honey isn’t very apparent in the taste but probably contributes to the creamy texture. Loved it. Also opened another one of @sean_rugy ’s beers. Only two bottles left! This was Grimm’s Gathering w/ tart cherries. Really nice blended sour, in the ballpark of a Belgian Kriek. Nice funk, wood, and lots of cherry flavor without coming across as medicinal. Thanks for this one, I loved it! Finally, just had Oxbow’s Vestige, a smoked farmhouse ale. Always a bit wary of smoked beers, but this was really nice. Smoke didn’t overpower the saison yeast, it was a cool mix of flavors. Glad I picked it up!
@djwildefire I recently grabed Great Notion Jammy Pantsand uhhhhhh something else. Very exited to jump into them
I found this article about mead in Australia. Mead in Australia: a long-forgotten drink makes a comeback IIRC mead is the oldest known fermented beverage in the world, as I think it pre-dates wine, even.
