Wanted to love it so bad because I love most peanut butter beers but this one was real sour and I’m not to into sours.
Yeah, Singlecut is all of a sudden all over the Cleveland area. I’ve probably had a dozen or so different ones in the past 4-5 months.
I’d like to try some of Black Project’s bottled offerings. The canned ones I’ve tried have been pretty good but didn’t knock my socks off. I found a new (to me) Off Color beer recently. The One Percent, a witbier aged in whiskey barrels with cherry juice added. Interestingly, it also includes salt and coriander like a gose. At only 5.8%, there’s no burn but lots of whiskey flavor. Cherry’s in the background and it’s not really very tart at all. I think I actually would’ve liked a little more tartness. But as always with Off Color beers, very unique! Also tried another of @spiffa0 ’s beers, qualify pils from Suarez Family Brewery. Not my go-to style but this is an excellent example. Very flavorful, while still maintaining that crispness. Lastly, picked up a 4-pack of Modern Times Cool Zone after trying it on draft in Oakland. This is essentially a peach/nectarine grisette. It is extremely refreshing, lots of stone fruit and a slight tartness. Still has some complexity from their mixed culture as well.
Ok this one is sooooo good. Huge honey flavor but somehow not overly sugary or sweet, love it. @BlueEyesBrewing thxxxxx.
Untappd just served me an ad for this service called Beer Drop, it's a new beer delivery service. I might... might do one delivery, contemplating. Beer Drop - Custom Beer Subscription Seems like one of the better services price-wise (beers amount and shipping both), so we'll see. I guess on Monday they send me what my beers will be, and I have the ability to switch things out, then I have a time period to either choose to ship it or skip it. So I think right now there's no fear of spending anything before I need to.
i know i spend more than that on beer a month anyways, but for some reason $50/month for the service seems a bit steep
I’m interested, but would like to see what beers are in the box before signing up/entering an email. What are the choices?
so next Monday I get an email that shows me what the choices are, and I get to choose then if I want them or not free of charge. On the site there's a list of breweries they work with and there's some solid stuff I recognize. I figure it's worth a shot, the only downside is the credit card requirement to really get into the website and look around.
I signed up... curious but willing to give it a shot one time to see how they do it and if there are any surprises... If the first delivery sucks then oh well, will move on...
Yep, I have the same thought. And if the first delivery looks like it's gonna suck, it's easy to "skip" the month or just cancel the service before having to pay anything
Mead!!! Underappreciated and misunderstood! Also, not a beer so I'll stay out of this thread. Just kidding.
My wife is very much a "beer only on the weekends" kinda gal, and if anything has wine or seltzer during the week. This leads to a lot of beer sitting around un-drank for a while because I have to wait for her so we can split it. Well, I think she got this one like... A year ago and we finally opened it tonight. It's quite good, but not "waiting a whole year" good haha.
@irthesteve I like Almanac a lot, one of the more underrated Bay Area breweries. Really solid and consistent sours. I bet the hops fell off a little bit considering the age on that bottle.
Yeah I love Almanac for sure, never had anything bad from them. The hops certainly fell off a bit, and there are like... 5 different fruits in here that it was hard to really pin down what the flavor was. But still, it was a good beer regardless.
Mead can be bad, but great mead is probably better than beer for me. Like, I’d rather have a Schramms mead 10/10 over a 10/10 beer.
