When I get in the next one I can obviously do Tired Hands. The other locals like Neshaminy Creek and Love City and Evil Genius and all aren’t that good, imo, but I can do them if people would like. Also I can try to get the rarer beers that hit the Philly market, unsure of what everyone in here has access to (Heady/Focal, Lawsons, Evil Twin etc.)
Evil genius is hit or miss but purple monkey dishwasher was what made me start exploring craft beer, I had a sip of a coworkers one night and had no idea beer could taste like that haha. nesh is alright, I’ve had the shape of hops to come which is pretty average. one of my friends who used to post on ap is a brewer at love city so I show them love
Evil Genius stouts and porters are good, but I’ve had to pour out a few of their others at the brewery. I used to dig a lot of their bottled stuff but I think they tried to expand and please the masses with trends a bit too much. Nesh Creek will have like 1/10 beers that I really enjoy, but most of their IPAs taste the same
so far from what ive explored here in st louis, my favorite breweries are 2nd shift, 4 hands, six mile bridge, and modern (i have a friend who brews there too so im biased). will be sending those to whoever i get to start out.
yeah i poured out an entire six pack of #icanteven, it was terrible. also not huge on stacys mom which was probably our best selling IPA at yard house lol. i am curious to try their new flyin hawaiian fruit punch ale just to see what its all about.
what are the thoughts on the hazy trend in the thread? i feel like I enjoy the general flavor profile a good amount, but the variation from brewery to brewery doesn't have that much of a gap to me, so less of them stand out as superb beers than other strands.
It was fine from what I remember, nothing extraordinary. A few of the NEIPAs that they did were good, but basically the same as every other local brewery doing them. Purple Monkey and the Pumpkin Porter are probably their best
For the trade I can get Allagash, Schilling, Deciduous, Stoneface, Lawson’s, Maine Beer Co., and Bissell Brothers (among others) fairly easily and there are a few good microbreweries around me. I’m also close enough to Tree House, Trillium, and The Alchemist that I take occasional trips there.
my favorite local (to philly) hazy is probably victory cloud walker. also a big fan of treogs haze charmer but hershey isnt exactly local even tho treogs is everywhere in philly
I agree with this, I enjoy hazy IPAs plenty, but I rarely have one and think that it's any more exciting or different from the last
I could just be hyping it up in my mind too much since I’ve never been, but idk if I can find a beer that matches a Tree House/Trillium trade
hazy IPAs/pale ales are probably my favorite style of beer behind stouts/porters, but yeah a lot are very similar. the good ones that stand out are fucking good though.
Even if we don’t match I got you! It’s everywhere around here so I often forget it’s not in all parts of the country.
South Jersey has like two good breweries but we get good distribution from Brix City and kane and I like doing delivery from icarus
Tired Hands has spoiled me in terms of hazy local beers, haha. Both of them are good though! Always a solid selection on tap around here
im so pissed i never made it to tired hands ughhhhh. im visiting in december though and its a required stop on my trip
Oh I forgot Imprint! They reallly blew up over quarantine with the Sour Slushy craze (that I am a sucker for)
