Glasses are typically supposed to be hand washed. Dish washers can often leave soap residue that can dry. Common problems from glass washing can be head retention, lacing and flavor.
The most common thing you will see is bubbles forming on the side of the glass this from residue on the inside of the glass left behind during it's washing.
Yeah the sediment heavy sours that I've been drinking have been fucking up my glasses lol. I'm gonna switch to hand washing too.
There’s a running meme in the Richmond beer scene to tag certain people whenever a dirty glass is posted because they won’t stand for it. Also sometimes when someone posts a clean one that group will randomly like send them a beer or a gift or something. It’s pretty funny.
If anyone can taste the difference between the beer in Steve’s glass in his picture and the same beer in a hand washed glass I’d be stunned.
Bottle scrubbers are pretty cheap and easy to find. I usually find that if sediment sticks to the bottom of a glass I let some water sit in it to loosen up before I clean it. I really think a clean glass only helps with head retention and seeing lacing on your glass when you drink it. More of an aesthetic pleasure for drinking but not essential.
Yeah it’s kind of a running joke where there would definitely be no way to predict it. And it’s not in a specific group since most of the people know each other and are in a lot of them. But it’s funny when you see a picture and just know it will be one to bring a comment out either positively or negatively. I think they’ve had a few picture contests over the years too, but I may be remembering incorrectly since so many of those happen with different stipulations.
Then why are the popular beer pictures all pours to the rim with no head on it at all?! *mostly kidding haha
I hand wash my glasses only because I don't want to mess up the logos and whatnot Also my dishwasher leaves a lot of residue
Defintiely some breweries who put filters on all their photos to make their beer look better. Vivd/chrome will make any muddled mess of a beer look better.
Oh I thought you were suggesting people are actually photographing juice and lying that it’s beer, lol. Hey!
