Working out my first beer trade. It's with my cousins, and we usually share beers fairly often anyway so it's barely even a real trade. I'm just excited to try the process. I'm sending them 2 4-Packs of White Oak Jai Alai and they're sending me Perrin No Rules Vietnamese Porter, Trillium something (I don't remember), and a couple others.
love Sorachi Ace last night got into some Hi-Res and Americano Stout. First time trying the latter and liked it a lot. I haven't had a Stone beer (outside of Enjoy By) in a while cus I think I just associate them with hop hop HOPS (whether that's fair or not) and my taste has gotten away from that over the past few years
England. Like, Middlesbrough area. Went to a restaurant earlier and had a bloody gorgeous IPA. Called Longhammer I think?
Best Damn Cherry Cola was actually really good, tasted like a Black Cherry soda. Again, something I'd only have 1-2 of Founders Mosaic Promise is excellent, first time seeing it in a store near me
Pineapple is all over the nose but for me it was Sculpin with a hint of pineapple/tropical fruit. I really enjoyed it. Probably the best Sculpin variant out there for me, just edging out GF Sculpin. Regular Sculpin is still the best, though.
Had two different customers give me some Zombie Dust today that were bottled on 3/31. Also two bottles of Gumball Head and a bottle of Alpha King. Going to be having a bit of bottle share featuring some of the Abyss variants -- Rye, regular, and a couple of aged bottles from 2011 and 2013. Excited for that. Gonna check out this Dogfish Head Squall IPA tonight.
Grapefruit Sculpin is an all timer, for me. Pineapple was fine, had a pleasant taste but I'd always go OG or Grapefruit Sculpin. Watermelon Dorado is not a beer I'd return to. Interesting to try, though
Drinking a Jai Alai that was canned on 3/29. I always love this beer, but as fresh as this it's probably my favorite beer out there.
Picked up Sierra Nevada's Otra Vez, Anderson Valley's Blood Orange Gose, and they had a bomber 4-pack of Arrogant Bastard (2 of them are oaked) for $14 that I picked up as well. Those sours will be so nice after doing some much needed yard work tomorrow.
So far I've only found two sours I haven't hated: Otra Vez and Boulevard Hibiscus Gose. Still not anywhere near a fan of the style, but I can certainly myself acquiring the taste. It's the salinity that gets me.
mmmmmmm I love the Anderson Valley Gose. Another one I really enjoy is the Two Roads/Evil Twin collab Geyser Gose
I'd look for a Berliner Weisse if you aren't a fan of the salinity of a Gose. You can also try adding a pinch of this to a sour to take it much less acidic: Lavender and French Sea Salt Rich Simple Syrup . There's a growler shop nearby that adds that to some of their sours on request and it makes them taste so damn smooth.
