haha Suarez is on the other side of NY from Niagara, like 5.5 hours away. Depending on where in New England you're going it might make more sense to hit it on that trip. Like if you're going to MA, Suarez is only two hours from Treehouse.
The Palatine Pils from Suarez 100000000% earns its reputation, I honestly don't know that I'll ever have a better pilsner in my life. I can't even comprehend how a pilsner could be better. It's better than Trendler from Tired Hands, and Trendler is amazing.
I have some vintage Other Half, Grimm, and Suarez I have been cellaring. Not to count all the Black Project I brought back from Denver. Don't have enough beer enthusiasts my age in the area. Always interested to meet new people, and the Chorus.fm people seem like a nice bunch (well, aside from those that cannibalized the Thrice - Palms thread).
It's a toss up for me between Palatine and Qualify which is better. Cabana was pretty great too, but I would give the edge to the former.
I have only really just started cellaring stuff so I don't have too many older bottles. But I would be happy to grab and trade recent bottles from places in Jersey, like Kane or The Referend or anywhere else.
Cellaring for me is more about storing/maturing stuff I cannot keep in my fridge. I can afford to stash all the stouts and sours. IPAs go to the fridge immediately. I forget whether its you or @sean_rugy , but I have some Grimm bottles back from 2017. Definitely want to share with some people who like their new stuff, just so they can see how their stuff has grown over time.
I mean, thats exactly what I do. Dark, stays the same temp. Cellaring is more the verb. For those of us who have a basement or a proper cellar to do this in, I salute you.
For anyone that goes to Suarez, HOW COULD I NOT MENTION THE FRESHLY BAKED PRETZELS. On another note, the brewer's brother owns a restaurant the town over called Gaskins. Excellent food, and even more Suarez on tap.
would be very into a Chorus bottle share in the NYC area. I've only recently (less than a year) done a deep dive into this side of craft beer and it's got it's hooks in me. living where I live has also helped a ton.
Yeah living in the NY Metro area is really great if you're a craft beer fan. Being in Jersey is almost even better because I can easily get to the NY and the Philly/eastern PA spots. Suarez is like basically the one place that's just far enough that it's impractical to get there often.
Pick up a bottle of Saison Terre a Terre. Best saison in Michigan. Top five beer made in Michigan easily, IMO. I'm going to check out their brewery when I'm up there in September for the UP Fall Fest.
I had a decent cellar collection going but then ended up drinking most of them. Now it’s basically just a few years of BCBS and a couple other stouts. Side note, NY peeps: I’ll be in Brooklyn next Thursday night and our hotel is right next to threes brewing. How is their place for bringing families? And is other half worth trying to get to?
