ive started getting more into beer since i became a server at yard house and we have 120+ on tap at any given time and customers ask me about them constantly. right now trying the yards summer crush, we dont have this one at my restaurant but we have a few other yards beers
my current assistant GM is gonna be the GM at that one when it opens i think. i might transfer if he is
I'm on a budget this week, what would you guys consider a good go to beer outside of the craft variety ?
What do you mean by "outside of the craft variety?" Like Bud/Miller/Coors? Also, what type of beer do you usually like to drink?
My go-to non-craft beers for like a house party or something is either Killians, Harp Lager or Red Stripe. Soft spot for Killians because in college I had a Kegerator in my dorm room and Killians was always the cheapest keg.
I've always enjoyed PBR or Banquets as my go-to cheap beers. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a classic and can usually be found anywhere. Allagash White is a fantastic Belgian White if you get them in your area. Stouts are a little harder to find and generally more expensive, but Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout or Left Hand's Milk Stout are very popular
Where do you live? Gonna be some differences in regional suggestions, IMO. My national go-to is probably High Life, but as you see in this thread, everyone is going to have different suggestions.
12 packs usually go for like 15-17 depending on which brand you get. I'd rather pay a little extra than drink Miller/Bud/Coors lol but that's just me personally. If we're just talking cheap domestic, PBR is what I'd go with.
