Aside from Other Half, gotta second Grimm and Threes if you’re going to be in Brooklyn for a while. But if you could only go to one place in Brooklyn, go to Other Half.
Other Half has great IPAs, but not exactly the most diverse tap selection. To diversify, I would also walk to Folksbier which is a low-key option with some nice variety of lagers, ipas and sours which is only a 5-10 min walk from Other Half. If you're by Threes, I would recommend their bottle shop. Great offerings from all over NY at a bargain rate.
Worst part of the haze craze? Citra is priced through the god damn roof and mosaic is following suit.
Galaxy is insanely high too, and hard to find even. I go through Yakima Valley to get bulk hops and they're completely sold out of Galaxy and it's priced at $30/lb!
I would add Gold Star Beer Counter to the list of bars in Brooklyn and As Is to the list of bars in Manhattan.
The list can go on and on. Can definitely back Goldstar and As Is, would also point out: Haymaker, St. Gambrinus, Proletariat, Beer Street, and Hops Hill
Yep. We have a DIPA at work that is simcoe Citra mosaic and el dorado (I think) and we have to change it. Then the next DIPA we typically make is just Citra and mosaic so we don’t know what we’re gonna do the rest of this summer. We loaded up on azacca in the mean time.
Do you guys have any hop contracts or do you just buy what you need when you need it? I don't know how some of these breweries are getting so much of these high profile hops
We buy when we need. We’re so small. We did like 370 bbls in our first calendar year and then like 340 bbls in 2018.
Gonna be in Denver on vacation from tomorrow through Wednesday. Going to Black Project. Any others should I try to go to? Unfortunately Casey Brewing is closed when I am there.
I always recommend Ratio Beerworks. My brothers friends own it but it’s an awesome spot that’s “punk” influenced. They have a lot of shows there too so keep a look out
I mostly stayed in Estes Park but when I was in Denver proper, I went to Great Divide and it’s as good as you can imagine.
Musts: Station 26 Ratio Epic TRVE Shoulds: Denver beer co Prost Great divide 10 Barrel Cerebral Renegade Jagged mountain Don’ts: Wynkoop
Station 26 - tangerine dream, American copper, 303 lager Ratio - new wave, hold steady, renter world, repeater Epic - brainless TRVE - sortilege, ecate, cursed
Hey @dylan my buddy is moving to Longmont so the chances of me being in Colorado in the next 12 months is high
Nah. It’s a goal for my work to enter GABF but it’s so expensive to enter beers. I want to go at some point though.
I’m assuming it’s using brux trois yeast. Was thought to be Brett but later determined to be a sach strain WLP644 Saccharomyces "bruxellensis" Trois | White Labs Edit: Or could be akin to Funk Weapon #2 brett
