Thank you, and that sounds great! I may return the favor with some homebrew if I've got anything good at that point.
Coffee Dinos'mores is great and still available all over NYC. Check beermenus in your area(s): Find Off Color Coffee Dinos'mores Beer
Yeah, one of my co-workers checked into it on Untappd and the next time I got to Binny's they had just sold the last of it. The nitro Sculpin just doesn't sound good, now I know not to waste my time if I see it anywhere. I did try the pineapple version last weekend though, and I liked it a lot. It was a subtle flavor, not like the grapefruit (which I love) and a nice change of pace from the regular stuff.
How do you keep track of stuff that's coming out locally around Chicago? Just keeping tabs of breweries you like on social media? I feel like every time I hear about something awesome being tapped or coming up for releases it's sold out by the time I make an effort to go get it.
Yeah, I keep up with some of my favorite breweries on social media as much as I can, and also some shops are good at updating social media or beermenus with what they've got coming in. I also have a group of friends and co-workers who love beer and we update each other on what we've heard about. And I just take occasional walks to Binny's on my lunch break to check out the selection. Sometimes those are the best, when you're just surprised by what you find. Like today I went since it's so nice out (and wasn't raining like it was supposed to) and I found ZombieDust and Surly Xtra Citra, which I hadn't heard of yet.
I think there's a good chance this will be my Home thread on Chorus. I'm Vincentbiz on untappd. I haven't used it in 3 years, but will start using it to keep in touch with you fine gentlemen. Anyone in the PNW or planning to visit should make sure to get up here to Bellingham, WA just south of Vancouver. We have 9 micro-breweries and 2 more are opening this year. The area is a haven for IPA lovers and we get some real awesome darks in the winter
That's pretty much what I do currently. I just need more friends who I can consistently talk about this stuff. Haha. I just wasn't sure if there was a centralized calendar of beer releases for the Chicagoland area posted somewhere.
I'm waxyknoll on untappd. I might actually start recording the beer I drink rather than mindless consuming it. I tried a couple of new beers over the weekend: The Dandy Brewing Company - THE TAILOR RE-TAILORED SCOTCH ALE A honey brown ale that I can't remember the name of (all I remember about it was there was some weird sediment patterns when pouring..) Ginger Beer - Philips (This was kind of disappointing for me, mainly because I wanted alcoholic ginger beer and not beer with ginger flavouring...)
Missed this earlier, but I'd definitely be interested in participating. I also think I added everyone in here who posted their untappd info.
Yessss another lambic drinker. I'm always on the look out for good lambics. Unfortunately they don't seem to be that big here in Canada. I'd be down for something like that. I'm currently in Calgary, AB, Canada and there are a couple of local breweries around that do decent beer.
Holy thread explosion. I just added more people than I remember on untappd. My name is JimmyIymmiJ on there too. Also, drinking a Jai Alai at the moment and planning on following it up with my last White Oak Jai Alai.
Very jealous of this. I used to live in NY but that was before Torst opened. I've been lucky enough to try a bunch of J Wakefield but this would be an awesome event.
The Dandy Brewing Company (I haven't visited the brewery but their beer is super tasty) Last Best Brewery (They're not far from downtown, and they make a good porter and black lager. They also have a cocktail bar downstairs where they do beer cocktails. I'm also biased because it's my local...) Big Rock Brewery (They're probably one of the bigger breweries in Calgary but probably not a bad place to check out.) Wild Rose Brewery (Again haven't been there but they make decent beer) There's going to be a beer festival here in May so I'll probably have more recommendations after that.
Awesome thanks! I'll be attending a conference so I'm gonna try to hit up one of these the day before it starts and maybe another one over the course of the conference time permitting.
Home alone all week, so I've been painting/cleaning up the place. Picked up a Goose Island pack. Just knocked out three Four Star Pils which was pretty decent, not onto some no namer they threw in which is a pilsner that's pretty legit. Headed out shortly to my local brewery Dirtbag Ales for drinks and dinner (not driving).
just turned 21 this year. still kind of a beer noob. I've come to love blue moon as well as Guinness.
Blue moon is one of my favorites, not a big fan of dark beers. Ever had Fat Tire? Really like that one.
