I'm on their instagram now checking out all that stuff, looks like a great operation. Have you had any of the cider or wine yet or just the beers?
Had one of their ciders. Their wines haven’t dropped yet; this batch will be their first. They used Frontenac grapes as they wanted to focus on lesser known grapes. The cider I had from them was wild fermented and dry hopped with Galaxy at 2 pounds per barrel and was delightful.
That sounds really good. And you have to report back when you have some of that wine! I've been really digging hopped ciders recently. This really great cidery opened up a tasting room near me and they make an incredible one. It's hard to order anything else when I've gone.
It's Ironbound, they opened the tasting room last fall, I believe. Check the original post I had to edit in the screenshot from my phone lol
I also had this dry-hopped cider when I was in Vermont and it was excellent Safety Meeting | Stowe Cider | Stowe Beer
Ah, ok. I've seen them around a bunch, but haven't tried anything yet. Graft is doing some really cool beer inspired ciders. Definitely recommend trying them if you see them around.
You should try some of Ironbound's stuff when you can, it's maybe my favorite cider I've ever had. Looks like there’s a liquor store in my town that carries Graft, I’ll definitely check it out.
Our brewer at work left after feuding with my boss and he went to a farm about 30 mins north and started the hard cider at that farm. I think cider is wonderful and would be perfect happy in the cider game. Such a versatile segment of the industry. Shorts brewing kind of sucks imo but they have an offshoot called starcut ciders and they do a bunch of wild and oak fermented/aged ciders and they’re beautiful.
My dream: a brewery that focuses on fresh as fuck hoppy beers, Saison’s/farmhouse beers, European style sours, wild ciders and move into natural/“orange” wine.
This is what I mean about Speciation. Just some crazy shit. Scotch barrel aged red wine? Take. My. Money.
So Sapwood Cellars with wine? Also, I’ll gladly trade you some allagash or something for some speciation Edit: And if/when I get these couple Saisons I have planned finished up I’ll send you some too
I’m fucking down. Mid Michigan is cheap as fuck but open tocall scenarios. Yeah. Legit told my girlfriend I feel like I should be shipping out beer to y’all in here and I feel guilty not doing it. Maybe I’ll collect some and send some out.
If I were to start open a brewery, the brewery I'd most want to be like is Hill Farmstead. Problem with that is that Hill Farmstead exists lol
Bartender almost hit me with that no head, to the brim pour I can’t escape it. (That’s our port barrel aged imperial stout in distro)
