Lawson’s sip of sunshine is like one of the OG hyped hoppy beers I still need to have. And also like, anything from Hill Farm. Only two breweries I haven’t had anything from that I would really want.
You need to go to Burlington/Hill Farmstead for a weekend. I will come up, lol. EDIT: Here is the best reason to do so: Hill Farmstead Brewery - Festival of Farmhouse Ales
Sip of Sunshine is one of my favorites and was the first one I had by them. One of the beer distributors I go to sell them, super session # 2, and this is the first time I've seen Chinookerd.
It's only a 14 hour drive. My annual trip up there was suppose to be that weekend but I'm not trying to deal with all the crowds FoFA. Ruining everything.
I'm trying to plan a family trip up to northern VT specifically so I can go back to Hill Farmstead. Hoping to do so in the fall. I went last year in late August on my way to Stowe and it was so awesome
My friend brought me back some cans of their Nelson two months ago, it was really good. First time I had anything from there.
My wife and I are planning on going up to VT in three weeks when she's off from work for spring break. Going to stay in Stowe and hit Burlington and Hill Farmstead as well. Looking forward to it.
you probably already know, but definitely hit up Foam while you're up there. there's also an arcade bar called The Archives which is pretty cool.
Yeah Foam is great, I've had beer from there in the past. Definitely going there the day I'm in Burlington.
Unless you were planning on going the actual day of FoFA, I wouldn’t worry about it. Slightly more people than normal at the brewery the days surrounding it, but it’s not crazy. If you were planning on coming up anyway, I’d just try to get tickets. FoFA is genuinely the best beer fest in the world, IMO. Unreal selection of breweries and very low number of tickets, so it’s not some big massive crowd to deal with.
been trying to look up who has been featured before - anywhere I can find a list? I can't go this year (friend's bachelor party in Richmond, VA) but maybe I can go in the future.
Hit Off Color's Saison Day with Allagash yesterday. I think I got there after most of the special tappings were done, but had some Allagash collab that was good. Also Off Color has a "Russian Imperial Stout" that is 3.5% abv and it is great lol.
Wow, that Mikerphone IPA, Milkshake at Tiffany's, is bizarre. Really tasty, really sweet, and probably the most full can of beer I've ever seen.
I LOVE Mikerphone and their taproom is really neat. I am bummed that I didn’t get tickets in time for their beer festival because the lineup is BANANAS. My lady and I visited some of her family in Jacksonville this weekend and we picked up a few beers to pair with horror movies for our podcast. We also had these delicious treats:
Zhukov is always solid. I think we're getting 2 treatments in our El Catador membership this year based on labels i've unearthed so far. Where'd you go in Jax? Hope you made it to Aardwolf.
No brewery visits this trip (just to Total Wine). But we’ve been to Bold City, Green Room, Wicked Barley, and intuition.
Next time, put Aardwolf, Southern Swells, Main & Six, and Reve. I know it's a huge city (literally the largest city by land mass in the continental US), but those guys are consistently putting out quality stuff in Jax. Also, if you're lucky enough to be there when Aardwolf is doing a release, go a bit early and bring something to share. Great beer community up there.
