cool, thank you! I saw postings about it being released in some counties in Connecticut but no word down here in Philly yet. hopefully, it's my last "whale" for beer. 100%. I like the style, but everyone's trying them and they're not necessarily succeeding. haven't had a chance to try it yet, but apparently mango shape of haze is just straight-up mango juice. my brother said they used way too much. once NEIPAs over saturate, I feel like lactose sugar IPAs will be the next big thing.
Yeah I'm a huge fan of the style and I feel like a select few breweries are doing it pretty well. Two Roads as a whole is pretty underwhelming and Two Juicy just kinda tasted like their other IPAs. Maybe a bit "hazier". I haven't had any of the Shape of Hazes yet. The Milkboy Lactose Sugar White Bronco was decent.
agreed. everyone's trying to be the next trillium or tree house. also, Bella Vista posted on Instagram that they'll be releasing CBS and Bourbon County in one of the weirdest ways I've ever seen: "We will release 1 bottle [of CBS] at the top of every hour from 10 AM on. No repeat purchases allowed. Goose Bourbon County Stout will be 2 bottles every half hour starting at 10 AM. Lines won't be honored and beers will be put out randomly throughout the store. We have enough CBS and BCBS to go into Saturday and will repeat the same setup. Again please do not form any lines. You won't be counted as here first. This is the fairest way to get these beers to people who aren't hoarding and genuinely want to enjoy these highly regarded stouts from Goose Island and Founders." super weird, but kinda cool. I've never been to Bella Vista and don't like my odds, so unfortunately, I won't be going.
re: CBS talk I'm moderately excited that a local grocery store chain around here seems to be getting a significant amount of CBS. Just need to figure out which is the most convenient location for me to stop on my way to work on Friday... Founders CBS 2017 @MexicanGuitars, this may be of interest to you. And any other Chicagoland peeps.
Whaaaaa. Of course I'm out of town this weekend lol. I'd be down to Venmo you if you could pick me any up.
can definitely try. it really depends on limits and timing. since it's getting released on friday at 7 am at most stores and i'll be hitting up places on my way to work, i can make no promises.
My regular store decided to do an online ticketing purchase for CBS on Friday. Luckily I happened to check Facebook right when they posted it so I got 1 ticket then they sold out in under an hour. I’m kinda pumped since it means I don’t have to get there by a certain time or wait in line
Founders is opening their Detroit taproom next week and also releasing tickets for a CBS bottle release there too. Going to try and get a ticket for it even though I already have my GR ticket too haha
Racked 5 gallons of an 18 month old sour stout onto an absurd amount of raspberries, cherries, blueberries and blackberries tonight. Going to let it go a few months and hope for the best.
Apartment I'm moving into is garden level, so I'm hoping it is cooler year round. If it is, I think I'm gonna do some two or three gallon batches.
I've always like the flip-top ones the best, especially the champagne style bottles like Treehouse or Hill Farmstead use but I can't seem to find blank ones of those. I have one that's like a mini keg and it's cool looking but ultimately overpriced and not necessary.
I have one of those at home and need to dig it out. Went to cloudburst in Seattle yesterday and had a really good NEIPA variant
Ended up getting 4 bottles of CBS today after going to two stores. Pretty pumped that I’ll have at least one to age for a while
someone in Philly hook me up with that and I'll venmo you. Also down to throw out some $$$ for Alchemist/other rare beers too if people can hook it up.
Brewhouse near me is having it on tap on Wednesday, so I'm definitely going to try it then. I pick up in GR next saturday for my two bottles, definitely going to try and get 2 more from Founder's in Detroit
Finally had one of the 3 Scoops variants from The Answer last night and...holy fuck...it's literally just fruit juice and I'm totally on board with that.
