Old Nation can release on Monday. $17.99 a four pack for a 9.2% DIPA. I'll be out there for the release but not sure if I'll buy cans. Their beer has been hit and miss for me so far. I think Boxer just isn't that good, but M-43 slays. So, I'll drink a snifter before I decide to buy some. Anyways, I have weekends off for the most part, so let me know!
I'll be in California until Tuesday night unfortunately. I wish more places would do Friday/weekend can releases. It's so hard to make it anywhere during the week. But maybe closer to June I'll manage to make it up. May is so hectic.
Yeah. I guess Old Nation are doing it on a Monday to keep 'mules' from buying up a ton of it just to trade because it's trading pretty well so far. That said, they still only set a two case limit. I think case limits are dumb, but that's a digression. Sounds good. June 3rd we might be at the Art, Wine and Beer fest in Jackson and then after that I know Summer Beer Fest is in July (which I'm stoked for; never been to the summer one). Aside from beer fests or very occasional things at the brewpub, I don't work weekends, so just let me know.
*DISCLAIMER: I know jack shit about beer* I got pretty tipsy tonight for the first time, it was rad. My birthday was Wednesday so my friend bought me a pint of Pipeworks Ninja vs. Unicorn, which ruled, then about a half a can of Amstel, which was not so good. Still, beer owns imo
anyone been to other half brewing in brooklyn? what's it like? I know there's a lot of hype around them but not sure if they're super crowded on weekends or not.
Just avoid going between opening and like 2 pm on a Saturday and you'll be fine. Their release crowds are insane.
Old Nation's new england style DIPA might be the best hoppy beer in Michigan. Good lord it's crazy good.
Didn't end up visiting all that many of the new craft beer places in Budapest since I was dropping too much cash out as it was lol, but had a funny experience where I was checking in on Untappd to the maybe the oldest craft beer bar in Budapest, and noticed something peculiar. Someone had posted a check in there 2 minutes before me, and the pic was the exact same view I was looking at haha. Ended up looking behind me and talking to the guy and his wife, who were Turkish, for about an hour and a half. Interesting talk: he has a beer blog but the Erdogan gov has pressured him and a lot of the beer community in the country into taking down those publications. Says he's gonna put it back up, but it's in Turkish lol.
I love looking through this guy's blog: Larsblog I really enjoy hearing about other beer cultures and whatnot. He has GREAT posts about Lithuania. The most interesting of which is someone brought dregs from a beer back to Canada to analyze the yeast and it has NO connection to any other yeast in the database, which is one of the largest databases in the world. That indicates that Lithuania has a purely unique yeast that runs through the majority of their beers since they don't distribute them outside of the country.
I was actually at the brewery about a week ago...first time ever going or trying anything from them. I tried Contains No Juice, South of the Porter (mexican chocolate style porter), the Best Part of Waking Up (coffee milk stout), and The Boysen Back in Town (boysenberry kettle sour). Not the biggest IPA fan in the world but Contains No Juice was good, and I really liked the other beers I had too (South of the Porter was similar to Xocoveza). I'm actually going to be moving to Monterey in June or July so I could probably hook you up with some then!
Keep me in the loop! I don't go to many beer releases that aren't local here, but if there's any Michigan beers/breweries you're interested in, I can see what I can do.
I'll do my best to remember! Next time I'll be over there will be in mid-June I think! I'm personally excited to try some more beers from them, good stuff.
Got some bottles of Flora at Hill Farmstead and my god that beer is amazing. Had an epic bottle share as well. Crazy amount of beers.
was able to pick up Shape of Haze to Come at Neshaminy Creek and what a fantastic cousin to Shape of Hops.
Back on my search grind. This week got Unfiltered Sculpin, Galaxtic Double Daisy Cutter, Born Again Yesterday and Navaja
