Had a w00t stout again last night and man I love that beer. Even with only four months on it, it's smoothed out, booziness has slightly vanished. I have Hive 56 from Allagash with me today, can't wait to drink that.
I don't know what it is, but I don't really like wootstout. Ironically I went to wootstock this year and had a blast
Just picked up a bottle of BCBS, BCBS Coffee, and BCBS Barleywine. Last year we had so many of the regular they were selling them at the grocery store. We also had the rye and rare. This year it's a 1 bottle limit each on the 3 we got, and it doesn't look like it'll last long.
Most places I've called don't know when they're getting theirs today. I'm not liking my odds of getting any today :(
Good haul day! 2016 BCBS Epic Big Bad Baptista Epic Double Barrel Big Baptist Founders Lizard of Koz And I'm currently in line to get a coffee variant of BCBS
Interesting. I feel like people who like BCBS or big barrel-aged stouts should enjoy wootstout. It's got everything you'd (the general person into BBA stouts) would want: barrel, booze, dark fruits, sweetness. Wonderful sharing beer.
Had a bottle of 2015 BCBS I aged for a year. Aging did wonders for it, hotness of the beer disapated and was an awesome beer to drink today.
Epic's Big Bad Baptista is fantastic. I'm a sucker for any beer with cinnamon in it, so take my opinion for what it's worth, but good lord this has everything I want in an imperial stout. Also had some Caractere Rouge from Rodenbach and it was fantastic. A great jammy, fruited sour with wonderful soft carbonation, which always separates Belgian sours from American sours for me. Alexander beats it, but the Caractere Rouge is actually out in bottles (pricey at around $27 for me) and a fantastic alternative. One of the best sours I've ever had.
I'm glad I bought a bottle of Baptista then! I almost turned it down last Friday but decided to grab it as well as a bottle of Double Barrel Baptist.
Nice! It's really weird this year. Last year we got like 3 cases of regular and between 5-7 bottles each of the Rare, Coffee, Barleywine and Regal Rye. This year we got 1 case of regular and 1 bottle of coffee. Not sure if the limits are much lower or they changed the distribution to not so heavily favor NYC. Could also have to do with the contamination issues. Trying to get our hands on another bottle of coffee since we have the last 4 years vert we're saving and we want to open one now! Love Big Bad Baptist. Have you had Hunahpu? It's cinnamon deliciousness.
Came home from thanksgiving with these gems: Cigar City - Trousseau (Barleywine aged in Madiera barrels) Cigar City - Dioscorides (ale with spices aged in rye whiskey barrels) Cigar City - Bourbon aged Warmer Winter Winter Warmer Cigar City - Double Barrel Hunahpu Cigar City - Double Barrel Bolita Double Nut Brown Ale Hidden Springs Ale Works - Parthenope w/ Tangerine Hidden Springs Ale Works - Parthenope w/ Apricot Hidden Springs Ale Works - Parthenope w/ Passion Fruit Allagash - White Funky Buddha - Morning Wood Oskar Blues - Barrel-Aged Ten Fidy not too bad.
You cracked into the BA Ten Fidy yet? I managed to snag a can of it yesterday myself, and I'm trying to figure out if I should consume it or let it age a bit. Also picked up a four-pack of Off Color Dino Smores. Stout season is upon us.
Never had Huna. Cigar City was at Bell's 30th anniversary last fall and they never advertised bringing Huna, so I was getting supplication from Russian River when they tapped huna at CC and I missed out on it. This version of Big Bad Baptist has cinnamon and chocolate added to it. I love normal BBB but this version is phenomenal.
My friend brought by a bottle of Kuhnhenn's 2016 Raspberry Eisbock and christ was that good. There's no chocolate in the beer at all but it smelled and tasted like a chocolate covered raspberry. Just a great brew.
KRE is amazing. Had the '07 version during a Kuhnhenn tap takeover in 2011. Then traded for a bottle in like 2013 or so. Absolutely blown away both times.
Kuhnhenn's Raspberry Eisbock has been on the top of my want list for long, long time now. I've heard nothing but amazing things about it. I've had their Bourbon Barrel Fourth Dementia and thought that was insane. Really wish I had access to their offerings.
