Avery's barrel aged stuff is good, but boy is it some of the booziest barrel aged stuff I've ever had haha
So I went to my favorite party store to stock up on some beer for St. Patty's/the weekend. Mixed a couple of six packs and came up to the counter. The owner says "You look like a guy who appreciates good beer," and just walks away into the back room. When he came back, he was carrying these bad boys.
Sometimes I forget that nicer beers tend to be higher alcohol percentage. Had some beer from a guy who brews his own and keeps it on tap. Didn't think much of it when I had about 4-5 glasses worth. Was still drunk when I went to bed.
It's St. Patrick's Day, I'm off work, and it's March Madness. Somebody must love me. Started the day with a Sunday Morning Stout. Went out to watch basketball and had a Last Snow and an Undercover Investigation Shutdown (and some cheap stuff and whiskey in between after a while). Now drinking a Marshal Zhukov at my local taphouse. Good day!
About to head up to Mammoth for some snowboarding this weekend, luckily they have a pretty darn good craft brewery up there so we always go there for drinks and dinner at least once. This bad boy is my fav, but the last two times has gotten me in trouble with it's 10% happiness Oh my god, they have one on tap right now called Dos Osos, "Imperial Mexian Style Dark Lager with vanilla beans, cocoa nibs, cinnamon and Mammoth’s own Black Velvet coffee" Also a Blood Orange IPA. Iz gonna be a good weekend
I'm having Blue Moon tonight while I eat and then play some Xbox. Nothing crazy today, but it's my go-to.
I had an Otra Vez last night and I thought it was great. Even my roommate who hates beer actually kind of liked it.
Anyone else had the privilege of drinking Heady Topper by the Alchemist? Hands down the finest IPA I have ever drank.
It is very good. I drank it back-to-back-to-back with Jai Alai and Zombie Dust, though, and I preferred Jai Alai (but I'm very biased there, plus the Jai Alai was canned like 3 days prior to drinking it). I have another can of Heady along with more Zombie Dust, plus a Julius and Sap coming, so I should be drinking well this week.
My dad just came in with a haul from up north and with this talk I had to break them open. Just drank the Heady Topper, Zombie Dust, Julius, Sap, plus a Jai Alai and Reef Donkey (Tampa Bay Brewing Company). Not bad for a Monday! (By the way, I think Sap was the best of the bunch).
Think I'm gonna try to abstain from beer for the rest of the year, so that's gonna be tough. Don't want the carbs and want to look good for the summer, end of which I got some weddings to attend.
Had the Dos Osos and Gooseberry Sour at Mammoth Brewing over the weekend, Dos Osos was really great. Tasted a lot like Xocoveza, if it wasn't a stout. But the true star of the weekend was jacuzzi + red cup of Pacifico after a day of boarding, A+
