Go to Church Key/Birch & Barley and The Sovereign. Some good beer bars in DC, get a lot of good stuff because DC distribution laws are dumb. Bluejacket is a cool local brewery.
Such a good haul today: White Oak Jai Alai Sucks Victory at Sea Springhouse Kerplunk! Evil Twin Michigan Maple Jesus Single Cut Heavy Boots of Lead
There's a sports bar by me that my buddies were trying to convince me was awesome because they had a good selection of craft beer. I'll give the place credit that they were trying, but when the same craft is on tap for 6+ months and it's a seasonal, it's probably not working.
A pub in my town has Dogfish 120 minute on their draft list currently so I tried it out for the first time last night and holy heck that was extreme. The taste of the alcohol was so overwhelming for me that I couldn't taste anything but that and it made each sip really difficult especially towards the end. 20% ABV or whatever it may be was just too much for me to enjoy. Definitely going to stick to the 90 in the future.
I would recommend trying one that's a few years old if you ever get the chance. A bit of age on it really dials back the alcohol bite and it tastes closer to a normal barleywine than a big over the top, boozy IPA.
I mean, I know why they don't just keep it at dogfish head until it's 18+ months old, but still. I really wish they wouldn't send that shit out fresh.
I had 120 for the first time the other night and loved it, really loved everything about it. Had 90 minute a few days ago and found it pretty boring honestly, nothing really jumped out as unique to me, pretty run of the mill in my opinion.
I've only had one of these, and have one in my fridge, but I certainly would love to try more The top 25 beers of 2016
I am beyond amped that a Mikeller brewery/bar is opening up in LA early next year. AND it's right near 2-3 great music venues. I project to spend a lot of time there once it's open, everything of theirs I have had has been supurb
Gin Barrel Nocturn Chrysalis? Ugh I bet that is amazing. I kinda feel weird about those "top of the year" beer lists. Sometimes they're terrible, this one is pretty decent though. It'd be interesting to hear what everyone's top 10 beers were for this year.
I probably tried way less than others in this thread, but I like your ideaa! I'm going to look through everything I rated on untapped this year and see what my favorites were. I don't think they will all be new to 2016, but I'll make sure they were new to me

I've had many iterations of Victory at Sea, but yet to have it BBA EDIT: is there a quick way to look at all 2016 check ins? How did you get that exact number?
