Someone on Twitter said that “The Long and Winding Road” feels more like the first Wings song vs a *Beatles* sounding song and that feels right to me

(Not necessarily a bad thing)

 

that song is better than any wings song i know of

also sounds a bit more paul solo to me than wings

been obsessed with this wings song for the better part of two years

 

probably the only good wings album outside of band on the run

 

I still haven't listened to much of the Wings stuff but I love Ram

I think long and winding road is a pretty weak song in any format, but definitely agree with it sounding more McCartney solo than wings. And for me, let it be naked is the definitive version of the album. After watching get back, though, I feel like an even better version could be pieced together.

Should do a wings deep dive at some point, band on the run is a great album imo and I’ve always been curious about the rest and just haven’t bothered yet.

Reading John's 1980 interview with Playboy- he seems to be a total asshole to Paul and the Beatles in general. Kind of disappointing.

yeah hate to break it to you but John Lennon was not a good guy

 

I always take John’s interviews with a grain of salt. He enjoyed being a provocateur. He’s also pretty negative about his own work, as well in his Playboy interviews, not just Paul or “The Beatles” as a collective

 

Martha My Dear and White Album take the top spots for me by a country mile but I certainly can’t pretend to be well versed enough in this band to throw elbows in here

 

Listened to Rubber Soul today, man I really underrated it a couple pages ago.
