Till There Was You deserves more love, great early Paul track with a wonderful acoustic solo from George.
Is this really where you want to be, Pat? On the same side as Steve? Is this really where you want to be, Steve? on the same side as Pat? :cackles maniacally: For real though, "No Reply" and "I'm a Loser" and "I Don't Want to Spoil the Party" were the emergence of the "Depressed John" run of genius that continues through Help! , which is probably his peak as a writer.
I'm sticking with it!!! Most of the originals are great, most of the covers are ok. It's their most uneven album despite still having plenty of gems
yep. plenty of songs i love on it. uneven is the proper word. none of their other albums, save the self-titled, are really that. and the s/t has total brilliance haha.
There's a lot of HUGE singles in their early days and a ton of underrated album cuts, they are just such a fantastic band
Those first 3 years, they released 2 albums each year. One day I'm gonna try to make tracklists where I consolidate the 2 albums of each year, and cut out all the meh songs to just make 3 good solid albums instead of 6, ha.
abbey road > rubber soul > white album > revolver > magical mystery tour > hard days night > sgt. peppers > with the beatles > help > let it be > please please me > yellow submarine > beatles for sale
I got stressed just thinking about trying to rank it. So I’m just not going to. Gonna resist the compulsion. So many incredible albums. I think their single most underrated song is probably “It’s All Too Much”
Amazing Harrison tune - and that one is tucked away at the end of Side A of probably their weakest "album". I'm always blown away by how many of the non-album singles are stone cold classics. Both volumes of the Past Masters compilations would be top-tier if not best albums by the majority of bands in existence. "Rain" is probably my favorite on either Past Masters - so underrated.
I did that with the solo stuff and it took me, like, 5 years to get through it all haha. I have a spreadsheet in chronological order if you need haha
Let's see I've heard: Ringo: Beaucoups of Blues Ringo Goodnight Vienna Y Not 2012 Give More Love George: All Things Must Pass The Concert for Bangladesh Living in the Material World Dark Horse Brainwashed John: Plastic Ono Band Imagine Mind Games Walls and Bridges Rock and Roll Double Fantasy Milk and Honey Paul: McCartney Ram Wild Life Red Rose Speedway Band on the Run Venus and Mars At the Speed of Sound London Town McCartney II Tug of War Press to Play Off the Ground Flaming Pie Run Devil Run Chaos and Creation in the Backyard Memory Almost Full Kisses on the Bottom New Egypt Station McCartney III
Enjoy! I think this should contain everything any of them have done after the Beatles, aside from maybe an orchestral album that Paul composed. The last few Beatles albums are in there just to give context of when everything was being released https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1aGiwSO75D_kdO3ENmtD-k2BLI6Bc7iGbMdozkp4nlZo/edit?usp=sharing
