  4. Still have the finale to watch, but I really want to double down on my take that the most unique/interesting aspect of this show me is its visuals. I don't know if I have the vocabulary to really describe it well, but the camera angles and shots they choose to go with and the composition of them and all that just feel so unique and striking to me. But not in a way that feels like it's just trying to be a movie, either. Reminds me of watching Mad Men for the first time, honestly. Again wish I had the vocabulary to analyze this is an interesting way but alas. Curious if anyone agrees

They're definitely onto something. I don't give a shit about fancy, expensive food, but they way this is shot makes my mouth water.

  6. Show is definitely well-directed, but I think it's the music and performances that really elevate things for me. Even with the writing being solid (if at times not particularly deep), it's the delivery that really makes it all feel so grounded and lived in.

    Performances above all else imo.

I feel like in another show I might rub against the frequency at which all these characters have these heart to hearts with each other, especially since I found those interactions more effective when sandwiched in between the chaos in the first two seasons and the dialogue is way more on the nose than it was then.

But, even if it’s a stretch for me to believe Richie went from hopeless fuckup to incredibly disciplined and deeply self aware guy in one week, I don’t care cause I like to watch Eban do it. Same for everyone else on the show. Even Gillian during the dance with Richie at the end of the wedding episode had me about to cry in the club

Would be funny if this is because Pop feels a deep emotional connection to the Disney Channel Original Movie Motocrossed.

There are some criticisms of this show I can agree with to a point, there are some criticisms I don't agree with but see where they're coming from, but mannn the one thing I do not understand at all is the "Claire sucks and ruins this show" people.

JLC is great in the wedding ep. Again, I think if you have anyone in your life who is like that character, it sends shivers down your spine whenever shes on screen

Vulnerability too. When she initially talks to Carm and Richie comes over with the shitty excuse to get him in the kitchen, you feel bad for her.

The wedding was sick because they set it up so aggressively to be another Christmas Eve between the stunt casting and the frequent use of words that mean anxiety and instead it was just this wholesome lovely thing

  18. yeah the way she understands whats happening and everyone else does too but acknowledging it will just make everyone feel worse....brutal

  19. I do think the one scene I found unnecessary was the Gillian and Sarah Paulson scene in the wedding episode. Just kind of felt like they needed to give every character an emotional backstory to hint at and with the episode already being 70 minutes, it's the one thing I wouldn't have missed.

Hartnett continues to be a joy on screen.

I was going to complain about some things but the season finale kind of took those away, for now.

Episode 9 and the finale did that for me. It was more minor complaints than anything but then those two hit and wiped all that shit out.

Add tomato paste to canned pasta sauce as well. Makes that shit taste ten times better.

felt like Josh in the Andor thread going back and liking all these comments, lol.

finished the season tonight. every episode hit it out of the park. acting was great all around. i know Storer has indicated he wants to work on other projects at some point, so i can definitely see it ending with S5. here's hoping they know when to finish it (and if this season is anything to go off of, i have full confidence they'll finish it strongly).
