I’ve given up hoping for the mass realization that there is so much possibility in art when you stop relying on it to tell a linear story. There are people out there who just want that—and they’re the same audiences who will never feel wonder from a poem, or stare into the depths of an abstract painting and find meaning; they’re the same audiences who will never understand why The Sopranos ended the way it did—who fast-forwarded through the dream sequences and maybe even the therapy scenes—who just want to be entertained without the extra pressure of thinking and feeling about the work itself. It has never occurred to these people that art exists for the creators too.
Do you really think everyone that doesn’t enjoy a poorly written, heavy-handed mess of a television season just doesn’t appreciate art? lol. This is not a Cormac McCarthy novel You’re right I’ve never allowed myself to feel the wonder of a poem because I didn't enjoy one season of The Bear. Beyond the first episode and the Tina episode, I just don’t understand what was so beautiful or meaningful about this season. I found it shallow. Ice Chips in particular was not interesting or engaging or thoughtful, just full of cliches. It was boring too but I guess that means I just didn’t appreciate how artsy it was !!
I am generally down on S3, but justice for Ice Chips. Maybe that is just from growing up with a mom who suffered from addiction issues.
Ice Chips is great and as a fan of the show, we will probably not win any converts by essentially saying they were too dumb to understand the intent of S3 or whatever. I enjoyed the season a lot and would very much disagree with it being poorly written, but I truly couldn't care less of another user in here feels differently lol
