I dated a girl who was Italian and I remember going to family outings and hearing everyone being called cousin. I asked her how many cousins she has and she said that’s what they call everyone that isn’t a parent, related or not.
Finished the show last night and oh my god what a fucking show. Genuine enjoyed every episode. Give Jamie Lee Curtis and Bernthal awards for episode 6. The argument with Carmg and Richie at the end. Thought Marcus was finally catching a dub too till they showed his phone.
I wish I liked this season as much as the first but outside of Honeydew and Forks it was mostly a step down for me. A step down from blow my brains out/make me cry perfection (first season) is still amazing though so it was still top-notch television. Fishes and The Bear were also great but did not fully work for me. I thought Claire wasn't given enough depth as a character for her to be Carm's main storyline, and Syd wasn't given enough attention. I love we got a lot of Richie and a lot of Cicero, both Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Oliver Platt are incredible.
I think people get hungry sometimes during the day so they are just like well shoot let’s watch them eat
My in-laws are in town (Chicago) for my wedding, so we are watching The Bear while eating beefs. Rewatching the S1 finale after having watched S2, Carmy’s speech in AA and the cold open is so much more crushing. Good god. EDIT: That closing shot. Ugh - this show is so beautiful.
Just finished my rewatch of season 2. I prefer the pace of the first season, but season two is pretty much perfect. other than Carmy getting locked in the freezer. Still hate it. It doesn’t make sense to spend an entire season showing all the safety issues and red tape of opening a restaurant but they get to open with a walk in with a broken handle that can’t be opened from the inside.
I also was yelling about “you’d have to be able to open it from the inside” based on the three kitchens I worked in. But also, who cares, show rules and carmy can freeze for what he said to Richie
Carmy’s speech at the end of season 1 is one of my favorite TV scenes. Just perfect and JAW absolutely kills it.
